Stand Rock campground is a nice campground. About 5 minutes to drive into the Dells. This campground has a nice pool, big sites & a very nice bath house. Also a Good Sam park.
Hello everyone...I am new to boards here...My DH and I LOVE camping and are always looking for new places to go and explore...We living in Wisconsin and live about two hours from the Dells and have stayed at alot of places near the Dells (within 30 mins). It makes us feel like we are going "away" for the weekend, but are still close to home. Anyway...we have stayed at Holiday Shores 3 times in the past three years and really like the campground!! We have a pop-up and have stayed near the pool and near the river...both sites were nice. Found that the the sites near the pool had grass where the ones near the river did not. All the bathrooms were VERY clean!! Can not complain about that!! They also have boat rentals there and have rented a pontoon boat two of the three times we have gone ( was all weather permitting..this is Wisconsin...lol). It is a very nice area to take a day trip on the river!! There were even places we could beach the boat and hang out for a few hours while enjoying the water. The landscape is BEAUTIFUL!! If anyone is interested in the sites that we stayed in let me know and I will look it up for you!! I hope this helps?!! Yes it is near town, but it seems like when we are camping we just seem to stay and hang out and don't really go to town to hang out...I guess it might be cause we are from Wi and have done the whole "Dells" experience...it is fun, but when camping we are camping. I do have to say that if you are there we have a ritual to go to a pizza joint on the way home called Moose Jaw!!! Have to have there pizza if you go there!!! Sorry for rambling..any questions I'll be happy to try to answer them for you!

The time we went to Wisconsin Dells we decided to stay at Baraboo Hills Campground which is about a 10-mile drive into town...if you want to see the Dells but don't want to be right in the center of town, Baraboo Hills is a very nice RV park and would recommend it...if you stay here make sure you visit the Ringling Brother/Barnum & Bailey circus museum in Baraboo, WI
We have stayed at the KOA. We enjoyed it very much, but we were up on top of the hill. I think you get MUCH less train noice and I thought the sites were much nicer. If you can, try to get your reservation for a site on top of the hill.

Well, you didn't mention what facilities you're looking for, so I'll recommend Devils Lake State Park in Baraboo. Its less than 30 minutes south of the Dells on US 12. But since you've booked already...
You don't mention if you have kids. If so, the Dells is a great place to take them. If not, you might get bored really fast. Aside from some shops, the Ducks tours (a MUST!), and a few other interesting attractions, the Dells is mostly water parks and go-cart rides. Its VERY much the bill board tourist trap. Its a part of my home state we tend to avoid. The really cool stuff is to the south. Devels Lake is absolutely beautiful. Less than an hour south from there is the House on the Rock. Its an unbelieveable place that is very hard to describe, another MUST see! Also in Baraboo is the Circu World Museum. Well worth a visit for any age group.

We were seasonals at Holiday Shores for about 3 years. It's a very nice campground located directly on the shores of the Wisconsin River (N.E. of the Dells). They have a marina where you rent boats and jet skies. They also have a boat launch. It's a very large campground, probably upwards of 500 sites. Most sites are very wooded, but there is a Meadow section, with some full hookups, if you like being out in the sunshine. They also have some River Front campsites located directly on the river. Some of the river sites are kind of small, but there are a couple that a larger rig could get into.
Someone commented that Holiday Shores is more geared towards the seasonsals and while this may be true, there are many weekend sites to choose from. They even have some furnished campers/cabins that you can rent also.
Anyone have any experiences with Jellystone in Wisconsin Dells? I'd love to see pictures of the water areas.
Last year over Labor Day weekend DH and I went there with my sister and niece and a friend and her kids....the water park area was really nice....small nothing like at the bigger Dells water parks, but that is not what they are...they are a CG..and then there is also a pool area..I don't know what I have for pictures, but I will look in the next few days if that is ok?!
