Typically, the left lane is for passing. If you weren't passing, then you were in the way.

I agree.

Even if he shouldn't have been in the left lane, it doesn't change the fact that what the other driver did was extremely dangerous. Suddenly slowing down to 30 mph could have caused a pile up behind him and someone could have gotten seriously hurt. Two wrongs don't make a right.

If someone is able to pass you on the right you are obviously in the wrong lane (whether it's legal or not). I travel a lot and there are too many people out there that believe if they are traveling with the flow of traffic they don't need to switch lanes. It's much easier to force the faster cars to switch lanes than move over and be courteous. While no one should pull in front of you and slam on the brakes you should have been ready for it when cruising along in the left lane. What was this guy doing before he passed? If you can't answer that question you were not paying attention. If that's true, don't worry you're with the other 90% of drivers out there that are clueless to the fact that they are driving a vehicle. The rear view mirror is not just for backing up. I think there is more to the story than some guy just decided out of the blue to slam on his brakes just because he had to pass on the right.
For all posters -- Are you originally from Ohio? Most Ohio drivers will enter an interstate and immediately move over to the left lane and stay there.

Back in the late 70's early eighty's I jumped out of my car to tell the other driver what an idiot he was. When I got to his car door he was sitting there with a gun pointed at me. I stammered a few quick apologies and ran back to my car. I never did that again. I always figure that person is having a bad day. I it goes beyond flipping me off and driving on I would call the police and let them handle it. I found when people have to explain things to an office it makes them think twice next time. The days laying whopping on them are gone and what if you lose. Then the old man who has trouble walking just became a bigger problem and you have to live with getting beat up by an old crippled guy.

Of course we have to, there is usually some slow car with PA plates in all the other lanes.

I would have copied down his licence plate number, and a description of the car and called the police and inform them about what just happened. I have done this before -- it been a great pleasure to watch as they pull that person over to ticket them.

There are very few jurisdictions where a cop can write a ticket on your say so. I know they can't in Texas. "Hey officer that guy was speeding." "Sure let me get my ticket book" Uh Huh.

Ain't gonna happen and if the guy pulled a gun on me that would be his second mistake. I am well prepared to handle that.If you pull a gun you better be ready to use it cause you might have pulled it on the wrong squid who's seen such scenery as vietnam, hondurus, panama and Iraq before retiring to the "quiet RV life".

Be happy you don't live in Southern California. That kind of******happens everyday out here. I would like to think that I would have let it go, but would probably have done the same thing. Sometimes you have to pick your battles. I would never get to where I am going if I wanted to discuss bad driving habits with every idiot that cut me off.

Maybe you put the fear of god in his mind .if you had put one finger on him you would have been talking to a judge while hes stands and looks innocent. besides your blood pressure going off the charts .KEEP THIS IN MIND WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND.let it go .Also in some states giving the one finger salute will get you a nice fat ticket for an OB. JESTURE. WITH THAT SAID HAVE A NICE DAY HE WILL GET HIS.OR FORGET EVERYTHING I SAID AND THINK OF HIM AS A SPEED BUMP
