Looking at a 4 year old never sold brand new camper on the dealers lot. As you can imagine the dealer wants to move it.

What concerns if any are there... refrigerator, water heater, water pump, etc from sitting so long? Full warranty will be intact, but am quite a distance from the dealer.

Opinions?

Wow...sounds like you can get yourself a pretty good deal and they'll warranty it for a year...do a thorough PDI and have fun camping.

It might well be a great deal for the right price.
I'd ask if I stay in it on his lot for a day or two to make sure everything ran right. The tires are now 4 years old, that might need some negotiating.
I'd call the manufacturer and confirm the warranty.

I would check NADA and see what it sells for on the used market and negotiate from there. Might be a great buy.

I'd get them to replace the tires--4 years is too old. Is there something about this trailer that made it hard to sell? I know that my local dealer had an identical model to mine that people wouldn't buy because it had "paprika" (red) colored fabric and curtains. 2 years later, it finally sold after a steep discount.

He had toyhauler that took a long time to sell because it had a interior design that was race-car like (black and white checkered floor, red and black couches, stainless steel trim). I think that theme would only appeal to guys.

He said that guys would step inside and like it. Their wives would step inside and frown.

Thanks for the input... I should have mentioned that it is a TC, so no need to worry about tires, wheel bearings etc.... I was more concerned about the components inside after having sat unused for a spell.

A trial camp night is a good idea. I will look at NADA to see that number as well.

We purchased a new 2004 in september 2007. We got a GREAT deal. The issues we had were minimal, but if you have a generator, I would insist that it is thoroughly cleaned and then be sure it is working. Ours had varnishing from the fuel sitting in it. We had that fixed (about $75) and tightened a loose water connection. The carbon monoxide detector was defective...sent that in under warranty to have it repaired and then reinstalled it, no cost. Everything else worked fine and we are still giddy over the price of our NEW motorhome. We don't care that it is an 04. Nobody else slept in it, and we know the roof is not leaking. Have fun and I hope you get a killer deal!

You might check for water damage to the floor area just inside the door. This could happen if the unit was left open during a rain storm while on the dealers lot.

Check the roof over, get a warranty, and you'll have a nice camper on your hands!

A few weeks ago I bought a 2006 S & S off the dealer lot, it had sat for just over 2 years. I've used it the last 2 weekends and the issues i've had are pretty minor, fixable. The door is no longer aligned - the Deadbolt wouldn't close, and the bottom corner sticks. The battery compartment latch didn't hold, popped open when driving. I took it back last week and they fixed the latch and moved the deadbolt strikeplate down - instead of squaring the door. I'll be seeing them again about that, the stuck corner lets in air if it doesn't close, and is scratching the sill when it does close. a lot of the drawers are tough to open/close, sticking. i expect that to work itself out over time.

I paid a lot less for a camper that nobody has slept in which is worth it to me! Good Luck :^) Clarice
