looking for some performance reviews from anyone who has a Gear Vendor underdrive/overdrive installed on their motorhome. Looking to possibly install one on my pickup. Like some input.

amberjax,
It sure does make a BIG difference on my rig! Six speeds forward. Cruise at 2650 RPM in overdrive instead of 3100 RPM in 'normal 3rd of the C6 transmission - and thus MUCH better MPG! Plus better shift point during acceleration from stopped. You do not mention your setup, but for mine, it is GREAT!!

Used to up till '97 in a '88 Okanagan Type B MH. 8,800#'s with TT package and 460. Didn't increase my mpg at all. Never got 10 average with it before or after. Did make it nicer to cruise as the engine was turning slower.

I installed one in my previous class C a '86 E-350 chassis with a 6.9 diesel and C-6 transmission (3sp). About $3000.00 and I installed.

I loved it and DW did too. Dropped 60 mph cruise rpm from 2700 to 2175-much quieter. As said above the gear splits were great. Wish I had one in my Gulf Stream.

Installed one on my brother's 1989 Chevy class c motorhome, made a huge difference in cruising rpm and overall power. I do not recall exactly what the before and after numbers where but it certainly made it a lot more drivable and economical. A fresh rebuilt TH400 with a gear vendor is a much better combo than a TH700R4 or a 4L80E. The overdrive ratio depending on the rear gear ratio is much better for pulling and you have the six gears keeping the engine in its powerband under all load and speed situations.

I installed one on our old 1984 30' gasser and a friends 1997 36' Bounder and they have worked great. I personally wouldn't own another gas coach without one. I put one on a guys 1986 Chev one-ton dually a few years ago and he loves it. It has about 85k miles on it now without any problems, just oil changes. Mike.

I have one and love it! My favorite thing about it is 2nd/over..... Boy oh boy! that is a sweet spot. I don't use 3rd/over much when towing the boat but 2nd/over is great for the hills. I would never own another P-30 without one.

I have Gear Vendors on my 89 Pace Arrow 34'. I've had 2 class A's and a C. The G/V is the best funnest option I've ever had. One benefit often overlooked is the less wear and tear on the drivetrain while loping along at 2300 rpm at cruise speeds. I also like the reduced noice, getting about 9.5 mpg, but I have headers also.

I put one in when the coach had less than 5,000 miles, have 66,000 now. I use the 2nd GVOD and 3rd GVOD when I have the toad. 3rd GVOD puts me at about 65 MPH and 2900 RPM, very comfortable with few downshifts. Have replaced two solenoids, one under warranty, one I paid for.
I chose the GV rather than the Banks system for about the same dollars.
I am very satisfied with the GV.
