Has anyone noticed the reward system of discounts at Flying J seems to have changed. The last 2 fill ups we have not received a discount. I picked up a new brochure and it appears the discounts are now based on how much you spend in the store or restaurant and not how much gas you pump. The discounts did not amount to much anyway but we wondered why we were not getting 15 or 20 cents back - big deal eh!
Also we used to feel that their prices were usually best but we no longer feel that way. At one exit on I40 today, the Pilot was 5 cents a gallon cheaper than Flying J. BP was also cheaper. What gives - anyone else feel this way. The only advantage for us is with a Flying J card we can use our Canadian credit card at the pump. Pilot wants payment up front - a real nuisance since we have to guess at the amount we will spend.

Flying J in Waddy, KY used to be without question $.10 - $.15 or more less expensive than Louisville. Anymore it's sometimes $.05 - $.10 less, sometimes no differance.

Here is the information on the changes to the Flying J RV Club program. The level of your discount is now determined by the level of your purchases in the restaurants and stores -- NOT fuel -- for the prior month.
Discounts go up to 30 cents for gasoline but only 4 cents for diesel, but with $400 in other purchases required for the top level. And discounts are limited to 400 gallons per month at any level.
I'm not impressed by the changes.

Yea, it changed and I've found that by carring cash I can get a better deal from the Mom and Pop places than the truck stops. We fueled yesterday and paid $3.89 cash price which beat the flying j at $4.05. Not much but when buying 125 gallons there is enough to buy a beer.

The way I look at it is this - if I'm putting 60 some gallona of their $3 plus a gallon gas in my MH, their $.60 cents, or so, "discount", ain't worth the effort ! As far as I'm concerned, I'll just watch for the lowest price around.

I agree that their paltry discounts weren't worth the effort. Always crowded, always had to wait in line to fill up and wait in line to pay. Flying J's cater to the big trucks, not rvs. I'd much rather pay a few pennies a gal. more and go somewhere else!

The last time when we were in Kingman,Az, the Safeway store (on Stockton Hill) diesel was 6 cents cheaper than Flying "J" We are also disappointed in Flying J's change in their RV policies.

We just started fulltiming and we are no longer going to deal with the lines at the diesel pump at the Flying J either. We are finding other stations beating their price also.
We crossed into Arizona from Blithe California two days ago and pulled into the Flying J.... RVs were backed into the frontage road at the diesel pumps.
We pull a 5th wheel and had no choice but to stay.. We found ourselves stuck in a very long line for nearly 25 minutes waiting to fuel up. When we finally got back on I 10 heading east we saw another truck stop down the road, 1 penny cheaper for diesel and only one or two rv's at the diesel pumps and a huge parking lot too.
