Yea I don't make $30 an hour, but still get up and go to work everyday and shop at walmart and buy gas from who ever is cheapest. I love the USA and everything it stands for. I have goodyears on my TT that were made in 01. If they are built in china or Russia or the USA I will by them again.
I agree with NHguy. We don't have a lot of brands at the local stores down here. Mostly Goodyear, Carlisle, and Towmaster. Towmaster was made by Goodyear in Canada but Goodyear moved that to China. I checked Towmaster web site and they inspect the vendors overseas tire plants once a year. Not a lot of control there. I looked at Maxxis but nearest dealer is in Texas and I prefer to buy local. Goodyear is my only real choice and just have to trust their quality control.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they analyze any thing that fails before 4 years of age to make sure they don't get the problem Firestone had with those Explorer tires in 2000. Maybe they even check older stuff, but the tire business generally expects 4 or 5 years minimum in car tires.

Its not just the china thing and rah rah USA. Its a quality thing. When I was a kid and growing in the mid 70's and thing would break, we would say, "it must be made in Japan". Fact was that back in that time frame, Japanese stuff was not that good. Now today it is some of the best, while chinese stuff is really poor quality. This is also a safety issue, the chinese track record is horrible on this. Nothing is perfect just because it is made here or there, but fact is, Chinese stuff is currently inferior and I will not risk my life or that of my family or your life while driving next to me any more than I have to.
