i just got a call from the dealer that is now doing my warranty work.
it's on a 2007 Roo 23SS that we bought 1yr. ago this last nov.
they are on top of getting the stuff approved by FR, under warranty, that the previous dealer dragged their feet to complete.
but, they're now telling me that i need a lot of re-caulking done and it's not covered under warranty.
i have the extra year bumper to bumper warranty that expires in november of this year.
1. is this covered under the warranty or is it strictly a owner maintenence issue, even though is only been 15 months?
2. $780 sounds extremely high for removing and reapplying calking. is this something they are trying to sell me, that i don't need or can do myself? by the way, i have no leaks.

I have a 97 Fleetwood RV and started to add more caulking to areas where it looks like it might leak last year. I figure that I put around 3 or 4 tubes of rubber roof sealant on the roof so far, about $7 each.
I don't know why they think that your roof is in such bad condition. Perhaps go by the dealer and find out what is wrong with it.

That seems like one huge rip-off. Like the previous poster mentioned, go by the dealer and make them show you the problems and why it costs so much to fix them. Seems like a DIY project to me.

It seems like a lot to me also.It is a lot of work if you do it right, Strip all the old and reseal, dont forget you should also get a warranty of sorts from the dealer, maybe they are factoring that in.

Read some of the Eternabond how-to posts. If you are physically able, this is the route I'd take.

If the dealer claims the caulking was done wrong at the factory I'd call FR in inform them to contact this dealer that they need to step forward and pay. Caulking is not life time but it's usually good for about 5-7 years if applied properly before it needs to be totally redone.

Definitely a do it yourself project. I am 66 year old female and did my Barth roof with no problem, the hardest part is gettin on the roof, or it was for me. lol Not hard at all just time consuming.

I also suggest that you have the dealer show you what they are talking about. I fear a rip off is at hand. Even if the chalking is bad it's a DIY project for most of us.
