I use an old Marbles Skinning Knife, leather handle and high carbon steel blade, about 4 1/2" long. marking on the blade is "Boy Scouts of America NY NY" with the Boy Scouts logo. Great sheath knife for everything from cutting rope to shaving potato slices for potato chips. I do have the Dexter knives, mainly because the Dexter factory is in the next town from my house. Good quality, and if you do get to Southbridge MA on a Saturday morning, you can go through their 2nds bins and buy lots of decent knives for pennies on the dollar.
Good Luck

My son got his mother a complete set of F. Dick Premier Plus High Carbon No Stain German Knifes. The made in Pennsylviana Case XX "The Early Americans" set is available except for the pieces that went in the motorhome.
I saw some Rada knives at a little country store here and thought I'd try a paring knife to see what I thought. Now I'm not a knife aficionado, but I've fallen in love with these knives. Made in America...good price...they're going in everyone's Christmas basket this year.

in March while attending the Hampton, Va. RV Expo my wife saw a booth for Cutco knives .... they are the most expensive knives we have ever owned but they also clearly appear to be the best .... we use them at home and while on the road ....
