I am trying to consider the pros and cons of a 2-door vs. a 4-door wrangler toad. Any major points to consider appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

do you need the seating?
how old will the people be that need to fit and climb in the back seat?
how BIG are the people for the back seat?
Is it just for the dogs, Food, coats?etc?

the Jeep will be the same, tow the same, work the same, just one is a little bit longer.

We need to know how you plan on using the Jeep before we can help you.

We went with the 4 door Rubicon because of the room that we can us as storage space. We will be pulling it behind our TC on our trip out West in June and July.
Have a Great and Safe weekend.

Just a thought, Consumers Reports Magazine rates virtually all Jeeps as Unacceptable in regards to owner satisfaction and repair averages, and JD Powers also says initial quality owners satisfaction is very low. There are better choices out there. Unless you're an accomplished mechanic!? If it's what you want, go fer it! TOAD GUIDE

I've had MANY Jeep products over the last 20 years and I haven't found them any more prone to mechanical problems than any of my other vehicles. They are Jeeps not a Lexus.

Currently tow a two door Jeep Wrangler. After towing it about 5000 miles and driving it 2000 this fall on a trip to the northeast, we enjoyed it , but decided the extra space would be great for storage, the dogs, and trips to the grocery store. Ok, my ife said she would really like one and thats good enough for me.

I think this comes from someone who has either never owned a Jeep or doesn't realize that they now offer a LIFETIME powertrain warranty.

Jeeps are very reliable vehicles with proven powertrains. No they aren't a cushy, soft riding car. They are Jeeps, and can go places that most vehicles only dream about going right off the factory floor.

Oh, back to the OP's question. It really boils down to what you want to do with it and who and what your going to carry. I will tell you this. The local dealer has a hard time keeping the JK Unlimited, for non Jeepers that is the 4 door, in stock.

And yes, It is a Jeep thing, you wouldn't understand.

Yep - Just remember it's a jeep!
Look for a nice older one. You can find them cheap, but you need to look for one that was well cared for.
Mine's a 97 TJ - 1/2 doors & soft top.
Small, noisy, rides rough - Love it!
I plow with it in the Winter and have fun with it Summer.
Not my daily driver though. If you are going to drive it every day I'd look at the newer plusher ones.

I LOVE our '06 2-door Wrangler, and appreciate it's chameleon-like qualities: one moment it's the grocery-getter, the next minute it's an offroading brute with no top. Tows easily - hooks up quickly. Ours is a "2-seater" - we took the back seat completely out to give the ever-present dogs more room.

But if I had to put teens or adults in the back seat - I'd opt for a 4-door.
