I have heard the same thing from a camp ground manager. There are several people who equate the internet with computers, and computers with work, They do not know that a computer can be a "Toy" and that chatting via Forums and such is fun, not work. I mean, I'm retired, Having fun IS my job (Ok, that's what the T-shirt says)
In QZ you have a few choices. There is a service that will let you log on (Wide area wifi) for a fee. And if you happen to be there during the mob scene, and happen to see a balloon flying over the land a few miles south of just west of SR-95.. Come see me. (I did not make it this year)
I spoke with a campground manager about Wi-Fi last summer. He was one of those "People do not come here to work, The only way I'll get wi-fi in here is over my dead body"
Well... He's the manager. Craig is the owner and Craig just put Wi-Fi in one of his parks... I know I was there, better than 2Mbps (0r was it MBps). So..
But for me, this is not work, it's fun. You want work.. You have to see me eye to eye (Company rules)

To each his own. When 'camping' for a weekend or a bit more, the computer stays home. When we are on the road for months, we use the computer for email, bill paying, picture sharing, seeing what local (weather, shopping, etc.) and reviewing all the forums we can.
Personally I picked up an unlimited data aircard so I can camp this summer and bring my laptop with me. Probably more specifically I work from home 2 days a week, now I can work at the trailer and get my work done, and enjoy the day.
I use the internet for all my information gathering (using my own common sense filter) and entertainment. I used it to find the Travel Trailer I wanted. I used it to determine health issues that arose and dealt with it early. I use it to get maintenance facts on my other toys. I use it to remotely work on networks (income), I use it to show family pictures of my little boy. When I'm at a campground and I can't get my fridge working or my heater working, I'll open my laptop and ask here and rv-forums for an answer. When it's near supper, I'll pop on this site and find a decent recipe.
I've found that those who make this type of statements are usually those who (secretly maybe) wish they could (figure out how to) do the same thing themselves....... What someone else does in a campground, provided it does not intrude on my rights, is of little consequence to me. I try to be a good neightbor. That's all I ask of anyone else I meet in an RV park.

I know that guy! No, not really, but I have a friend that shares that same forceful opinion that computers will never be a part of his life, and it should be the same for all.
Until he needs something - some info, a product from a web based retailer, etc.
That's when he calls me....
I RV to make ME happy, not anyone else. And if surfing the web in the morning while waiting for my wife to get up and around makes me happy,,, then that's what I will do. Pure and simple.
I would just smile at Mr Grumpy and say to each his own. As long as what others do and what I do doesn't interfere with anyone else.. who cares.

That old grumpy man sounds like my mom, but she's the first one to ask me Lana can you look this up or that up for me. She was impressed with the computer when we were on the road to Arizona and we forgot to order flowers for our cousin. I told her no problem mom. We can do it on the computer. She still doesn't like the computer, but please don't take the TV away from her on an RV trip.
I fired up my laptop late one night at a campground, and happened to find my uncle's old military uniform, along with documents with his name on them and service pins in the pockets, up for auction on eBay with a couple hours to go. I won it that night, and it was a priceless find for his family (he was killed in an aviation accident). I'm glad I had my computer with me! Heck, I take a weather station, ham radio gear, voip and network gear, my astronomy and photography gear, etc--all the stuff I like to have around in my spare time.
My problem is not with the neighbors, it's with my wife
