Devil week has arrived. Wednesday is still quiet but by Thursday the kids started to arrive. These are the "Juniors". Ages from about 13 to 17. Most are the children of wealthy connected parents from Hermosillo. They are the "untouchables". If the police threaten them with arrest or a fine the Juniors simply remind them that "Daddy" will have him fired. With the advent of fast communications ( Internet, texting) kids come from Sinaloa, Chihuahua and even AZ. I see many of them getting off the bus. They are too young to drive. The parents are fully aware that these adolescents are going to raise hell in Kino but could care less. Probably glad to have a few days of peace. There are dances all over Kino. The Commisario issues a license for these events. The speakers are bigger than a Class A MH and the sound levels would pin a decibel guage. The bass shakes the walls of our home more than 1/4 mile away from the stage. El Imparcial runs a story stating that the Police are exercising Zero Tolerance. Although there are lots of police I am sure they overwhelmed. I feel for them as this is a difficult if not impossible task. It starts at about 7:30 with some Latino rock a la Carlos Santana but quickly turns into something that cannot be classified. Sort of Caveman music gone bad. The cars fill the side streets . Each vehicle filled with yelling screaming animals. Garbage and beer cans are everywhere. An older couple comes every morning and gathers the empty cans. In an hour they have crushed them and filled their car with aluminum. By 1:00 a.m. the noise is like a war zone. The air looks like it is filled with smoke but it is simply the dust from all the raging chariots. From every direction you hear nothing but wild kids. Traffic on Mar de Cortez is bumper to bumper. Juniors walk 10 abreast on the street holding up all traffic. Sometimes they throw beer or water at passing vhicles. The females are worse than the guys. Maybe due to a lower tolerance for Alcohol The drinking age is 18 but Tecate and Corona have huge tents filled with beer. They are selling to anyone old enough to walk. . A house behind us is rented to kids who are all less than 16 years old. They are so drunk by 9 p.m. that all is quiet. They cannot speak or have passed out. By 3:00 a.m. we still have not slept and are beginning to think that if this ecalates something horrible will happen. Maybe riots or multiple deaths. In the past there have been drownings but the media keeps this quiet. I think that the presence of the police has kept things from being out of control. I hope I am correct. Fortunately most of the trailer parks are not on the beach. Semana Santa is mostly hard working families partaking of a few days at the beach. This is more like World War 3.

Moisheh,
We were in El Golfo de Santa Clara, Son. CRA CG last week & made it a point to return before the beaches stated filling up with the 1,000's of "kids gone wild" that were expected for semana santa. They ride their quads all night & have no respect for nada. We were concerned about the safety of our 16 year old son & his riding companion. Sounds like you need a vacation from your vacation. Stay safe, have patience & don't forget those ear plugs!

Mr. Brew Ski: we are in a house and cannot leave it empty for this week. If we were in our MH I would have pulled up the anchor. The police came by today and the young kids next to us were tole to either turn off the music or get out of Dodge. I am not a violent person. Dont even own a gun. But I wish I had a Tazer!!!!
Roc Moc:
Poor kitty was up all night. She was even crying! noise upsets her. Thanks for the kind words.

Eco Bay is excellent. But you will have to bring your own beer. They are not licensed yet. Or at least not the last time we were there. They serve a stuffed chicken roll that is superb. Very clean place and nice mesera. Our friends told us that Old Kino is quiet. One of them was up here last nite and commented that it was totally out of control.

Fortunately for us, bad weather has kept the crowds down here at home. Usually, here at the lake it is packed like sardines. Business was flat for the two weeks we were gone. Today should have been packed, but taking the trailer out for a ride we saw very little tourism, another rainy day. Sorry, but I didn't miss it.
The thing is, you know it will end (until next year).

You remind of a joke.
A young nun went to a convent. She had an annual review and was allowed to speak two words a year at the review.
At the end of the first year she said "food bad".
At the end of the second year, "bed hard".
And after the third year--"I quit".
The senior nuns at the annual review said they weren't surprised. All she did since she got there was complain.
States I have spent the night in my current rig, bought three years ago.
Have RV'ed through 49 states and been in all 50, just short of my half-century.

Next year come to Bahia Asuncion for Semana Santa. Half the town leaves to vist relatives or to camp in the mesquite groves, and most of the rest spends at least the last part of it camping 12km north at the abandoned town of San Roque---a real tradition.
Our town is soooooooo quiet during that time. But fortunately, our local mechanic was still in town to epoxy our friend's oil pan on his mustang so he could make it 550 miles back to the US. Oh, while he waited for them to look at his problem, they invited him in to share the afternoon meal---lobster was the main course.
Oh, would you believe that they wanted to charge him a whole $15.00 US dollars and that included one quart of oil? Our friend had already bought most of the oil. Being a holiday and all, our friend insisted they accept more---holiday pay.
Old Baja is really great.

Semana Santa is the best time to visit Mexico City. No crowds, no waiting, great hotel rates. We have done it twice.
