Has anyone seen the advertisement from Hammacher Schlemmer for this - or better yet, used it?
We travel with 4 small Japanese Chin dogs and someone always has to go out before 6 AM! I was thinking it could be kept under the 5th Wheel, and brought in only for nighttime or extended times away from the unit. It is expensive though, and if they won't use it - or it's just too smelly, it definitely wouldn't be worth the cost and effort.

For our little dog we use a tray with a puppy pad in it, very easy to fold up and throw away and a bag of Puppy Training Pads (available at Walmart and pet stores)is inexpensive.
There are times (like when theres a downpour) that we are very grateful for "piddle pads"!!!! Our Golden Retriever even used the pad once when she was sick during the night.
the scent is already in the pad.....so dogs go to it naturally.

I have washable bed pads like the use in hospitals on the the beds. They have a waterproof layer that protects the floor and I can wash as often as I want while on the road.
After they are soiled I put them in a large plastic bag in one of the outside storage areas.
It works great for us.

I use the cheapie pee pads from Walmart too. My dogs have to get pretty desperate before they'll use them, but if it's raining and storming outside the RV, that seems to make up their minds pretty quickly. I'll just wrap them up in a trash bag and throw them out the next morning.

Have any of you thought of using a litter box, if your dog is not a large breed. We tried this when we lived in an apartment on the 3rd floor. Our two small dogs took to it rather quickly, sure beat taking them out late at nite or in bad weather. Haven't tried it in the mh, we use the pads at nite. We have one (year old)that likes to show he is macho by scratching up the ground when he goes, so the litter pan wouldn't work for him.

We actually trained the 2 youngest dogs (now 2 yrs. old) to use the pee pads as puppies, but the little one seemed to equate them with going anywhere in the RV (didn't do this at home though; we have a pet door there). We always keep the RV carpet covered with plastic when the dogs are with us (because of the hair, tracking in leaves, etc), but still - we had to correct that behavior! We don't want to start that confusion again, and the others never wanted to use the pads at all anyway. I think they may have to start as puppies to "take to the idea".
This new system uses a tray to hold the liquid under a piece of "turf" fabric that is supposedly scented to attract them to it.
I don't know - sounds pretty messy...I'll let you know how it works if we decide to give it a try. So far I can't find any reviews online from someone who's actually used it.
Thanks for your posts!

When I moved to my apartment I tried to train Molly to "go" in/on the "Patio Potty" - it's a box with little under fake grass. She wouldn't use it - I then tried the potty pads - she wouldn't use them. Guess I did too good of a job potty training her ! It's a big pain on a cold or rainy day but, I have to take her out.
Guess I'd be sure your doggies would use potty pads before investing in anything expensive.

We're in the process of trying to train our Papillons to use a pottie pad that we place in the shower. I'm going to have to make a little step for them to be able to get in/out, but it will make things a lot easier once we get them adjusted. We've only just gotten the MH, so it's a new experience for all of us. One of the Paps is pretty good about going on the pads, but the other is more "care free"! As mentioned above, we also plan to keep the carpet covered with plastic (like new) until we feel the girls are in complete compliance with the shower-pad plan.
