FIrst time I got mice in the motorhome over the winter. Really, really disgusting. Mice******in my tub, sink a few drawers and......... MY BED!!!! AHHHHHH!! My neighbor got rid of his cats last fall because of his new hag of a money grubbing, live in girlfirend, hence the mice problem. Not real thrilled when I began the clean up today. Oh well, on we go.

We live in the country and get them too. Have tried EVERYTHING to keep them out to no avail. If anyone has suggestions please let us know. We've owned 6 MHs and this is the first time we've had mice - in our most expensive unit of course. Bounce sheets - nope; don't work. Stuffing holes with steel wool; might work if we could find the right hole and haven't been able to do so. Traps; they're smarter than we are and seem to avoid them, even with peanut butter and popcorn. I'm willing to try anything.

I can understand your feelings. A vacant lot about 250 feet behind my house has rats that are bleeding. I had just about finished detailing my boat in preparation to sell it and the rats ate considerable uphostery on the bottom of the seats overnight. I have caught two of them the last several nights by setting traps on the boat. It will be necessary to replace several sections of uphostery at some expense to repair, plus the delay in my boat selling efforts. Where is the Pied Piper when you need him?

Just hope they stay away from your vacuum hoses and electric wires. They got into my generator and built a nest in the engine and when I turned it over the nest broke the ignition rotor. Had to take the engine off to replace the rotor. I suppose they use electronic ignitions now. Mine is a 92.

The kids use the sticky traps in their stix & brix, they seem to work better than traps as the kids get very small mice. I would put some of those out along with traps baited with pbutter.

Good luck,safe travels

Sticky traps have not worked for us either.
We used the old fashioned ones with a cheesy cracker tied on with dental floss. 5 minutes after we left the coach, we heard the "SNAP"!

Transonic (Weitech) makes an ultrasonic pest repeller that will run off of 12 volts. I know these things work inside houses, because we've used them successfully for over 17 years, and we live very rural. I decided to try putting one (Transonic Pro is current model) UNDER my RV while it is parked. I asked the manufacturer and they said to place the Transonic under the trailer inside a Tupperware bowl with holes near the speaker (keeps out rain and snow). Sound will come out behind too, so place the unit near the end of the trailer, say 5 feet in. Putting a cinder block at the far end would be good to help the sounds echo. Setting it off the ground for weather protection is good too.

Seems to me if the critters never go under my rig, they will not chew wires, insulation, or be able to get inside.

I installed it early fall of 2004. I'm running it off the trailer battery, by connecting to the TV cord. I use a solar battery charger when stored, and am watching the voltage to be sure it keeps up.

I didn't want to kill the mice once they were in the trailer, I want them to not get in. Problem is I do not want to poison grandchildren, pets, or wild animals (we live VERY rural), all of which we seem to have wandering around here.

So far, no mice, or any other critter trouble, with TT.

We DO NOT EVER keep food in our TT when stored, winter or summer.
