Just to echo what Curt said, especially since he's been so fair-minded in judging the pros and cons of Honda vs the C-word.

I paid $300 for my 3500 watt (name withheld) generator, which is now available for $200 on rebate. If I had all the money in the world, and didn't mind spending ten times as much for marginally better performance, I would buy 2 Honda 2000's and a parallel kit. The only downside with this is the cost, and we already know that's no object for the OP. Otherwise:

--Portability is enhanced. 50 pounds twice is MUCH easier than even 70 pounds once, let alone 150.
--Reliability is enhanced (1 fails you've still got a second).
--Fuel efficiency is enhanced (not only are you only using 1 until you need 2, but genes seem to function more efficiently at 50% load).

Thanks for the kind words!

I remember when I was a kid (many, many years ago!) that anything that was made in Japan was junk. Now "Made in Japan" is a sign of quality (Honda, Yamaha, Sony, Nissan, Toytota, etc.).

I expect the same thing is going to happen with "Made in China" items, now that the Chinese realize they can be (more than) competitive on a world wide market.

When my grown kids were inspecting our new fifth wheel, one asked why we bought a trailer that sleeps 4. My reply was that we couldn't find one that sleeps 2!

I'm not trying to be argumentative here, because I have read a lot of your posts and I have a lot of respect for your opinion, BUT (LOL here) I have to disagree with this statement.

If you have, for instance, an AC unit running, the Yamaha 2400 will be running pretty much at it's max and maintaining a much higher rpm than two Honda 2000's. Under these circumstances, I bet the Honda's will be much quieter.

I had not thought of the noise that way before. Thank you for the tactful response.

I would be interested in a side by side comparison between the noise of 2 Honda 2000s running in Parallel Vs the 1 Yamaha 2400s

Personally, I don't have A/C yet, but from what I understand, the A/C unit will be louder than the generator anyways. Why don't people ever complain about A/C noise? =)

We run a 3000 watt Kipor and have been very happy with it. It runs the AC and fridge with no problems.

We have this as well and it nice and quiet even at full load.
And I think it was only $1400-1500 brand new.

If price is really no concern why not go with this guy?

Big yammi

More expensive but same noise level and you can fire up the AC while microwaving your hotpocket and the wife is blowdrying her hair!
