Washing Machine Detergent: Does anyone use regular detergent in a Combo Unit? I regularly order detergent for RV’s from CW. I failed to plan and prepare for my trip. Now I can’t find any RV/Combo Detergent and need help. What can I use??? Thanks for the help.

I would watch out for TIDE.. Though for years and years a sample box of Tide was supplied with just about every washing machine sold in the US.. I'm not told that manufacturers do not recommend it any more.. and of all the folks out there AMWAY distributors can explain why to you.

You see, they sell a concentrated detergent (you use a quarter cup or less per load)

They are told how to sell their product by taking a rack of test tubes, filling them around 3/4 full of water and adding some detergents, You add some Amway to one, some Cheer, some All Some Arm & Hammer some.. anything but tide. Mix it up and let it sit

In all the tubes save the Amway tube "Crud" (Fillers) settle out

Then they ask "Do you want to add dirt to your washing machine?"

Tide, however, is pure detergent... So it too is clear, no filler So strong it eats the hoses in the washer

Nothin adds excitment like something that is none of your business

You can use any detergent in the front load combo. Just make sure you don't use too much. I usually only use 1/4 cup of liquid detergent per load.

Sure you can use what you want doesnt make it right. He soap is formulated for front load machines. Low sudsing, soil suspenders, and no foaming. Non He soaps can shorten the life of rear seals and bearings. You can also cause oversudsing problems drain issuies. I work on alot of front load washers people who dont use what they should have the most repair problems. There is a couple of soaps out there that say for use in all machines that is totaly wrong only use HE soap.

I use liquid Tide HE with Downy fabric softener. The manual states to only use a couple of tablespoons.

Happy RVing!

DW runs ours almost continuously. She would even run it going down the road if I'd let her. I asked her at the start of our last trip how we can be out for three days and she did four loads and we still have a laundry bag full. She uses Kirkland (Costco) detergent. Just a heck of a lot less. I think a teaspoon or less and never had a problem. I could take out the televisions but not the washer/dryer as that is her major form of entertainment on the road.
