Just wondering what brands and sizes you take with you. I'm too big for a 49cc. I just ordered a 150cc Chinese made (supposedly from one of the better manufacturers) scooter that'll be prepped and assembled by the importer and shipped to my door for around $1360. Yes I'd love an Italian made Aprilia 250cc but not for $4700. Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki are between $6000---$8000 so they're out of the question. I don't have a 5er yet (someday HotByte....someday lol) but while I'm paying off my truck, I'm slowly gathering things I'll need. (more like, things I want). I've seen some pics of people with their cruiser style motorcycles on a front bumper hitch and I don't want this thread to turn into a discussion about how having a scooter on the rear bumper of the 5er will be too heavy etc., etc.. I was just wondering what scooters y'all have. Pics are appreciated.

If anyone is interested, I ordered the Lance GS R 150. Pics can be seen at www.ScootersFactory.com I almost went for the Lance Interceptor but the GS R 150 is cheaper. Gotta save money for a 5er.

Joe... Don't plan on riding that in Colorado unless you have a motorcycle endorsement for your drivers license. Anything over 50cc's is considered a motorcycle out here.

Same here in CT. Under 50cc, all you need is a regular driver's license. No plates, insurance or registration required. Over 50cc and you need the motorcycle endorsement, registration, plates and insurance. The one I'm getting is a hair bigger than a 50cc frame so if I stick some "49cc" decals on it, maybe the cops won't know the difference.

don't know about you guys, but 50 cc is not quite enough horse power to move both the bike and this wide load. I need all the help I can get. LOL

Peggy has a Honda SilverWing scooter: 600cc twin. She had a Honda Reflex, 250cc, before but felt it was just too small and didn't have enough oomph. She wants to be able to get out of peoples' ways.

Heres an idea for something light to carry on your 5th wheel. The smaller model with the pedals is a Moped and in California only requires a drivers license and no registration. I'm sure most other states are similar:

we have two 125 Yamaha Vinos. I weight in at 250, so no light load here. Top end is 45 mph. It's perfect for playing around town, just not on the hwy. Elevation has a lot to do with it. The only time I can hit 45 mph is when I'm down south around sea level. Up here at 7000', top end is about 40 mph for me. The wife has no problem. I carry these in the back of a Ford Ranger that I tow. You can see them in my sig. Plus the 70 miles per gallon we get doesn't hurt!!!

Stepson has an E-ton Beamer parked in our backyard. It has a regulator on it to keep it below 35mph and in VA, it's street legal without a driver's license. He can't cross the street into TN, though, as they require a motorcycle license. He's a good-sized boy (probably 225-350) and he rode it almost 20 miles each way to work last summer. He didn't break any speed records, but it got him there and back. He lost his driver's license because he let his insurance lapse on his truck and it will cost a good bit for him to get it back.

It's a cool little scooter, but he's lost the key to it and he needs to figure out how to get one made before he can start riding it again. He moved out and now his grandfather drives him to and from work every day (don't get me started on people who enable kids to do stupid stuff like move in with a drug dealer).

Ditto in Minnesota - but need plates, etc.

I have a MZ Moskito 49cc and it get my 260# up to 35 mph which seems fast enough for my purposes. Also light enough to put on the back of the fiver.
