I've had Foremost on the Tiger for about 2 years. No problems, but I haven't had to use their services yet, either.

Hi Mary,
Progressive writes RV insurance in NC too. We have a policy with them.

My State Farm policy covers all my vehicles, including the RT. And yes, they know exactly what they are covering. In fact, they covered the destruction of my 1st RT.

Progressive had the best rates by far when I was checking and I used them once after a tire blow out did some heavy damage. They were great to work with.

Allstate is a horrible insurance company, be glad that they are no longer covering your state. If you needed them, they probably would have screwed you. Progressive seems to have the best rates.
Good luck

mwaites wrote: Allstate is no longer covering RV's in my state. Can anyone recommend a company for my RT? Thank you1 That's outrageous. Here in Michigan, I could not get Allstate to cover my 'B' at a reasonable rate. The rate they quoted was 5 times higher than Progressive. My agent said that the high rate was due to the fact that Allstate did not offer true RV coverage here in Michigan. I contacted several other big name insurance company agents in my area and found that that was true for almost all. Thay all said they could give me a quote, but the price would scare me. Had something to do with Michigan laws. They told me to contact Progressive or Good Sam. This year the Allstate agent say's they now offer "real" RV coverage, stating that I should get a quote from them now. I did, and it was competetive with Progressive. But the policy coverages were pretty vague, and after reading this post, I doubt that I would ever consider switching.

Foremost is a good company but (at least in California) they limit you to 7,500 miles per year. The GMAC policy has no limit but you have to pay more if you drive more.
When I was an insurance agent I had such bad treatment from Progressive I swore I would never even look at that company.

after 45 years with State Farm we recently switched to GMAC thru Camping World. Should our 05 RT 170 get totaled, state farm would only give us current value, since we're about $20,000 upside down in our RT, a total would really wipe us out. Saw an add in Camping World magazine a couple of months ago so gave 'em a call. For the first 5 years, if you total the unit, they will give you a new one just like it (or as close as possible). After the vehicle is 5 years old, for up to 10 years, total it and they will pay you what you paid for the unit. We have already given them our invoice which was for about $70,000. That's what well get after 2010 if it is somehow destroyed. The premiums are only about $10 a month more. We're breathing easier now. there is no limit to mileage driven, plus we have all the usual "necessary" coverages including towing.
