We complained about a barker, tied to a cabin next to our "community" eating area Easter weekend. We never saw the dog again, even though the owner seemed to not pay much attention to the person who actually confronted him, nicely I will say. I will say I have a two dogs that will bark, but I do my best to not be gone too much.

For responsible dog owners everywhere allow me to apologize for the ignorant/irrresponsible pet owners you experienced. I camp with my Shepherds, see photo below. I always request a secluded site. If I have neighbors close by I approach them as soon as we arrive and let them know if my dogs bother them in any way please do not hesitate to let me know. I will correct the problem.
Most managed sites have rules against leaving dogs alone. My dogs are never left outside on the site alone. We may be a site or two over, visiting, but then they are inside the unit, in their traveling crates. Which is where you find them during the campground's quite time.
Bruce, you have a right to be angry, D...mn angry. I give you credit for trying to avoid a nasty situation that could esculate. But, discipline the owner (by contacting management) not the dogs.
Again, I will apologize for the irresponsible/ignorant pet owners. I hope your day gets better.

Lindero Canyon, 73-6. AE Wright was our bitter rival...
There may be barking dog owners who'll see this, who knows? As far as most of the regular posters, you're preaching to the choir, though. This is a pretty serious bunch when it comes to dogs. (And don't even get us started on dog FOOD...)
Here's hoping that your complaint results in a correction, and I'd submit that in the event that there is a "next time" for this problem, you ought to complain sooner. Once you've established that there is a problem vs. some temporary disruption, why wait? You don't need the stress and the irresponsible owners don't need to think that it can go on for a day or three before anyone says anything.

Very nice. You can park next to me anytime, barking dogs or not. My daughter is in the process of being a vet tech and would love all that company. We generally don't notice any problem dogs anywhere we camp. At least not to the point of getting worked up about it.A couple hundred geese squawking at the same time, now that could stir up a few here.
Don't like the view?? Then change it and Go Camping
We camp with our dogs all the time,We try to tak them with us as much as possible in the day time.We just got another mini weenie dog. Hopefully she will be as good as the others.
But if we are parked next to you and the dogs do bark, please let us know.
I know people try to get away from it all on their vacation, I don't want to spoil it for you. Just let us know...

If we have barking dogs next to us the first thing I do is try to talk to the Owners. If they are gone I leave a note explaining that there dogs bark constantly while they are gone. If that does not work then I call Security,
plus I move if problem not solved. I had 2 Rotts that traveled with us for years and never had a complaint in all those years. They were trained by the Police Dept tho. Great dogs ! To me screaming kids are worse than dogs !
I agree with you ... would NOT want to be camped for 3 days beside dogs barking constantly. Our mutts have always been the quiet type ... however we also make sure they're well worn out before we leave them. Once we're out the door they have all sighed with relief and crawled into bed.
Although ... there was the day Jake wouldn't shut up despite my urgings. I chatted with the campground host ... asked him if by chance there was a bear in the area. He confirmed Jake's suspicions, and once the other campers knew we had a bear-alerting and bear-repelling dog, they were also grateful. The barking only went on for a few hours, and I was able to keep him at a "woofy-growl" for most of that time.

Food?
Did someone mention FOOD???
That sounds like it might be an interesting topic. Maybe someday we oughta all talk about what we feed our furkids?
Just an idea . . . . .
