Hello
Does anyone have a spot that they can recommend around Edmonton. I will going there the second week of May. I have checked the web, a few to choose from, not many with pictures though. I am looking for something quiet, 1st real trip, about an hour from the city.

It took me a while to find the actual name of this one because we have another name that we refer to it by and I can't use the name we use in a moderated forum.
Kacikewin RV Campground & Cabins
Don't go there under any circumstances. Its a hole, the owners are a real piece of work and the "lake" (Lac St. Anne) is a green swamp. I've been told there aren't any good lakes near Edmonton - I don't believe that but this one is one to stay a LONG way away from.

If you can do with only electric hookup then Rainbow Valley is right in Edmonton but feels like the country.

Have a great trip we should be in Calgary at the end of May.

We stayed here both in 2004 and 2005 and thought the campground was good for what we wanted. Like Can-AmDuo says, you do feel like you are in the country. Some sites back a little creek and some seem a little close for comfort with your neighbors. But all in all if you are looking at a place to park the trailer and see the sites of Edmonton, then this would be a great location to base from.

Elk Island National Park would be my choice. The fees are very reasonable.

You could try Pigeon Lake, it tends to get crowded but is probably OK in May, same applies to Crimson Lake. A bit further if you want quiet, try The Narrows near Stettler (no services here).

Try this place. Stay there all the time when I'm in Edm on business. SW part of city, fairly new (3/4 years??),FHU, 9 hole golf course if you like that sort of stuff!!
Have also stayed at Rainbow Valley and its OK, bit tight, P+W only with dump. Been to Shakers Acres and its getting a bit rundown, but is close to W. Ed. Spruce Grove looks good, never been there, but its west of the city!!
I'd post pics of them, but I can't figure it out!! Says pics are too big to post.
Go FLAMES go - at least we made the playoffs!! ( well almost)

right in edmonton - relatives like rainbow valley. it's right off of whitemud freeway so easy access to a lot of places.
pigeon lake is about 1 hr away and it's provincial campground is very nice.
elk island national park is about 40 minutes east of the city.
