My BIL's Yamaha 3000iSEB is higher than the rails. He places it in the right front corner of the bed and has no clearance issues. 96 Chevy with factory bed liner and a 33' Challenger 5er.

Honda 5000 is 7" above bed rails so must be carried centered behind cab in my case. After unhooking trailer I lift and move hitch so generator can be wheeled off the truck. Glad I only take it on 1 trip a year but very nice to power my rig and the neighbors if needed. Randy

now being the proud owner of an auxillary fuel tank, my options are slim, so should be the generator.

My honda 3000 fits perfect--Powers everything if ya don't turn em all on at the same time--AC too!! Don't even have to move it to fire it up.Have to move the gas cans that sit right next to it though.

Has anyone given thought of using those receiver mount racks you can get that slide into the receivers on their tv?

Yes mine is higher than the rails, I have a long bed so I put it up front either on the left or right side depending on what else we are taking. No clearance issues.

We have a Kipor 6000, and carry it in the left front corner of the bed. We face the panel to the side of the truck, as we can plug and turn the key real easy from the side. We have had no problems, but it is higher than the side rails by a couple of inches. Only problem is the exhaust gets hot after a long period of time and pushes heat to the right side of the bed. We have the Rhino liner in, so no problems yet. It does get a little warm, but no problems.

I use one of those carrier racks on the back of my trailer. I had a custom receiver hitch put on my fifth wheel as soon as I bought it. The rack is rated for 500 lb and I carry my generator (4200 watt)gas and any thing else that may be dirty there.

depends if you have a short bed or long bed, in our short bed i actually the and pushed in the corner of our honda 3000 inverter, so make sure you can actually make the turn while it is in the bedof your truck.
