We're looking for a satellite for our 5th wheel. The ones mounted on top of 5er may be too tall to park under our rv cover. Is anyone familier with the View Cube sold at Camper World? Does it automatically find the signal or does signal need to be located like the standard portable satellite on a tripod. Thanks for your response.

It does not find signal automatically. You have to adjust it via a wireless remote and the signal meter through your sat box.

I'm glad you asked this question, I will be watching to see if anyone has fist hand knowledge of this new thing. I have read all the advertisements, watched their video at Camping Word and I am still not sure on somethings too. One thing I know is that there skimming over the fact that they make it sound and look so easy to have signal access. "Just set it on a picnic table or on the back of your truck tailgate". Of course they also have to say that " as long as you have unobstructed view of the southern sky". Isn't that what all of us have the most trouble with? So in my eye seems like it is not as "automatic" and easy as they would like us to believe. I really do like the size of it and the automatic leveling of the dish. I have debated with myself if that alone might be a good enough reason to purchase one. It would safe most of the grief I have setting my tripod up now. Look forward to those responses too.

Direct TV is changing their HD programing to KA band which these dome satillite dishes can not get. Some HD programing is already on KA. These things pick-up KU band only. Now are you really confused. What a mess. Go to technology corner for more info. This is always being discussed.

I have considered the purchase of the cube. The reports that I am seeing tell me to wait until more favorable answers appear in this form.

I've got 1st hand experience with it. It seems to be more susceptible to bad weather than a stationary dish at home. I don't have HD (neither home or rv) and don't really care as long as non-HD programming is available.

I am pleased with my purchase. It takes 5-10 minutes to set up. Let me know if any one has any other specific questions.

I am seeing just the opposite, folks are in general raving about the unit. yes there are limitations, no HD, etc. but really, being blocked by trees. no sat will pick up thru trees and that is the main advantage you can move this out to where it gets a good view.
