Just curious on how your dealers handle warranty issues. To be more specific, if you carry your rv back to the dealer with any major issues (or semi-major) does the dealer fill out any paperwork or does he just take care of it? I have had the DVD/Radio/Surround sound system replaced before. Also had them to give me another tire cover since the original did not look original. On both of these items, the dealer just went in the back and pulled one off of the shelf and handed it to me. I guess I was thinking that the process would be a lot like warranty work on a new vehicle where the dealer would need serial #'s and a mountain of paperwork in order to re-coop their money from the rv manufacture.

Just had some warranty work done and I had the dealer give me a print out of all work done for my records. Wasn't a problem at all.

I've had some warranty work done at the dealer and all I had to do was sign the work order. Very simple process and the dealer did a great job.

If he's YOUR dealer, meaning he sold you the trailer he probably already HAS all the information he needs to file the warranty claim with the manufacturer or supplier. I've only had one warranty issue with my last TWO trailers and that was on one purchased from RV Direct so no local dealer. All I did was tell the local dealer what my problem was and picked it up when it was finished.

We just wrote down the problems we had, went over them with him, and gave them to the dealer. When they were finished, they gave us a copy of the work order. Worked great, and all checked out.

What I have seen so far in the responses is kind of what I thought should happen. A signature from the owner varifying that the dealer did perform work or at the least a official copy of a work order. What keeps a dealer from turning in work to the manufactuer that was never done or worse that never needed to be done?
I got a great price on my fiver when purchased last year. Service after the sale has been non-exsistant! I have taken the unit back one time for a electronics replacement and like I said before, everything was kind of "what are you bringing it to us for attitude?!!!" Nothing from my punch PDI was completed when purchasing the unit. It was all small cosmetic stuff that I could and did fix anyway, but the dealer told us to take it camping a couple of times and see if we see anything else before we bring it back to them. After I leave the lot they know I am not going to haul it all the way back to them and leave it for 6 weeks to have some extra caulking done, remove staples or clean the glue off the slide. Thanks for your input, I am officially stepping off of my crappy dealer soap box!

My Winnie dealer stone walled it and claimed for months that the failure to be able to gas up my Chieftain on the Ford chassis at a rate over 1 pint per 20 minutes was not a "defect" but was an inconvenience. well he was right, it was an inconvenience and Ford/Winnie finally shared the blame and gave me a new tank, but I had to pay for some labor.

I just take in a list, we go over it with one of the repairman. They put the work in the computer and I sign it and when they get finished we check it all over and go on about our business. They take care of everything.

My experiences with my dealer were not very good. The warranty may as well have been written in toilet paper at least I could of used it for something. I have had to get some minor parts and ended up just having to pay for them. I had a axle problem and they were also no help they told Lippert I didn't have a problem. The MFG Colorado rv also never returned any of my calls or e-mails. However I did get excellent service from Lippert components when I went directly to them. I have had to go to them twice and they provided fast and friendly service.

Warranty issues were never an issue. Dealer was glad to get it taken care of, as was Holiday Rambler. I was even able to get one minor issue fixed under warranty 6 months after the trailer was out of warranty. Holiday Rambler and my dealer were great to work with.
