I have a 2007 four winds 5000 29r with an overhead entertainment center, with the TV in the center. Not only is it analog, but also impossible to comfortably see unless you are sitting at the dinette. I have found a suitable location for a flat screen, and want to take the TV out of the center of the entertainment center. Has anybody done it, and how did you deal with the blank space it left. I assume it is held in with some kind of strap, but have not confirmed this yet. Thanks for your ideas

I have taken the analog TV out of my MH. Installed it on a swing mount to allow good viewing just about any place in front of MH. Here is a picture of it mounted and set in place on center.

This picture is of it swung out to right. TV can be angled for good viewing from sofa.

I have more picture if they will help.

I have similar setup, hav not replace yet but looking into doing the same thing. I know that on the left side cabnet is a faust wall held by about 5 screws. you can get into back to tv. its strap down and screwed down on base plate. I'm looking to cover to lcd and create a door to open and close the tv section so tv can rotate to be view from all direction..

i have the same setup in my 99, i had to remove the tv recently to rebuild the cabinets when they started to come apart from the weight of the tv and the vibrations of the road. i have also thought of replacing the tv with a flat screen but i have not done it yet. here is what i did to remove the tv, once you remove the plastic surround that is around the tv (you do this by gently prying the black button caps off that cover the screws that hold the surround in) you will see 3 screws holding a metal L bracket along the bottom of the tv, take the screws out then you need to go into the side cabinet and remove the wood partition, this can be done on either side, this will allow you to see behind the tv to the frame that supports it. there is a strap holding the tv to the frame that has a clip that can be easily released. once you have the clip released you can unplug the cables to the tv and remove out the front of the cabinets. be careful as that tv is very heavy and it is awkward pulling it out while standing on the front seats.

as for how to replace it or what to do with the space? i figured i would either put the flat screen back where it was and build a new wood surround to fill the gaps in the hole or maybe i would put it on a swing arm off to the side and just add 2 doors to the hole where the old tv was to create a 3rd cabinet space.

hope this helps
sean

What mount did you use for this? I'm getting ready to do this right now, to replace a 4:3 tube set with a 16:9 flat screen. I want exactly what you did. I want to keep the area behind it for "cabinet space." (Ours of course is much deeper than yours)

If you have a closer picture of the mount mounted in the "cabinet area" I'd like to review that if you don't mind? (TV swung out as far as possible)

The mount is a Omni that I purchased at Radio Shack. Omni Mount. TV is a AKIA 27". No long available new only refurnbished. I'm happy with it only problem is my Directv remote will not work on TV.
Here is picture of my mount.

Here is TV swung to right for viewing from sofa.

I removed my 24 inch and found doors at Menards that matched in style and took stain to match tone. I then used masonite to close up the area and it is the best storage I have in my 27 ft BT Cruiser. I then installed a swing arm wall mount at opposite end of the living room. Ran cable in a plastic hiding tube along ceiling wall seam. The smaller TV but functional can be rotated to view easily and without looking upward anywhere in living area and spin it around for bedroom as well. The old TV was held down by metal fasteners on front. Easy to remove. Remove the front wood molding and unscrew the fasteners and out it comes. Good luck. You won't be sorry you changed it no matter where you decide to relocate the TV.

Thank you for the additional pictures! I'm trying to preserve the compartment. So, I'm not sure what I'm doing to have to do the get that type mount fastened. Anyway, that mount sure looks substantial enough, I'll have to see what I can do. I appreciate the pictures of your project! Thank you...

Pictures do not show it. But I have a slide-out plastic drawer (24"X18"X8") that sets behind TV. This allow a large amount of storage for many items not used everyday. Just swing out TV on mount for access.

Will take photos as soon as we get the door installed, but we are in the middle of this process right now on our Coachmen Concord. In our case, the big tv was fastened to a piece of plywood screwed into the floor of the cabinet. We had to remove the front piece of framing and then just unscrew the plywood. My husband took the frame and went to the hardware store to buy a piece of oak plywood to build this into a cabinet door. We built the door and then got a flat mount for the lcd tv. Installed that to the door and into a thicker wooden brace behind it. Cut a hole for the power cord and cables behind the tv. Mounted hinges and a handle, and have it ready to install. This gives us all of the space where the old tv was for storage. Planning to use it for pillows and blankets (and one large stuffed teddy bear!) I'll try to get photos this weekend.
