Hi all! Back in wifi - land!!! Been having fun - back in Tok tonight at Tundra CG - our trip south has begun! Not over yet, headed to Haines, Skagway (via ferry), daytrip cruise to Valdez, then Cassiar for Hyder bear viewing! Been up here just shy of 2 months - quite a summer adventure! Allowing another 3-4 weeks for the trip back towards NH. Hope all travellers are doing well! ST

We are back on schedule & in Grande Prairie for 2 days. Lots of miles but no more problems unless you count the tree that jumped out in a heavy rain last night. A little damage to the wheel well but didn't slow us down. On to the highway on Wednesday.

Free dry campin spot just below Grande Prairie on right hand side--Look for other campers just visible from road. And thanks to everybody on here for all the tips & advice that made our trip so enjoyable. We made it safely home to Mi. after 17,800 miles in 3 months.Wish we could have met more of you on the road to Alaska.Best advice--Take your time & enjoy the scenery,AND,Know the best way to get your vehicle to climb MOUNTAINS- 8 mile 8-10% grades are not uncommon and can tear up an engine or transmission if you don't know how to use them wisely. We turned the heater on full blast and opened the windows and Barely made the top.

Unfortunately, we too are on the way home even though it will take us almost two months to get there. Left Anchorage yesterday and spent the night at GlennAllen while on the way to Valdez. We will be there for several days and then on to Haines for the trip downstream on the Marine Highway. While we are really looking forward to getting on the ferry, we are somewhat amiss about heading home as yesterday it was 111 degrees there!! Whew! Which, of course, is one of the main reasons we are on this trip in the first place. This 60 degree weather (even with the rain) is heaven sent and we are enjoying it to the max. This is by far the best summer we have ever had in 45 years of being together.

see ya

After many days of being WIFI challenged, or not having the time to get on, we can say our Alaskan trip is OVER. We arrived back home in Bermuda last night.

Great trip. 4 Months. 11,500 miles on the 5er. 13,500 on the truck. No breakdowns. 1 tiny windshield chip & 1 small fiberglass chip on trailer front cap. Met lots of great people along the way. No regrets of arriving AK mid May, even though winter was late losing its grip this year. Plan to do it again sometime.

Next trip? Next month for 2 months. Eastern Canada & New England for fall folliage.

We did not buy our rig to stay in storage for months at a time.

Been in Alaska since May 24th, Grayling, Lakers, & Rainbows up North. 45# King at Willow, Kenai Penisula since Jul 8, fished with the Bears at Russian River, a few Reds, lots of clams, Steelheads, and Dollies, 100# Halibut at Homer, headed to Seward for Silver Derby this weekend, currently at Quartz Creek NF Campground (Wow tax dollars at work) Taking it easy, not leaving until end of Sept.  Weather great, beats 100 deg + in Texas.  Sure don't want to think about leaving.  Great boondock spot South of Grand Prarie mentioned above, stayed there on way up.  Bye to those leaving,  Hope to meet some more great people.  Ya'll stay safe.

Only one more week left... we are in Skagway until Saturday. Next stops are Northern Beaver Post, YT, Iskut, BC, Stewart, BC (day trip to Hyder), Smithers, BC, Prince George, then on to the lower 48.

It has been absolutely wonderful.

The new engine started going into the motor home this week. We plan to fly back to Anchorage on the 14th, get the toad out of hock, and drive to Fairbanks to re-start our trip on Friday or Saturday. Being in 98 degree heat and Florida humidity really makes you appreciate Alaska. I did have a chance to get reaquainted with my boat, and catch some snapper and grouper. Now if you guys saved us some salmon.......

We are no longer on the road to Alaska but on the road back to Florida. We are going to spend a couple of weeks in Canada first. We drove the Top of the World Highway over to Dawson City today. Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their time in Alaska.
