We'll head south on the 15th toward Las Vegas. Been in Alaska since early May and hope we don't have to go through the snow like on the way up.

FullMoon - We did a winter at Bird Point with Alaska State Parks a few years ago so I'll pray that the sun makes it over the mountains for you to have a Merry Christmas. My advice is to get active outside as much as possible no matter what. Check out Fur Rondy when it comes around. Nothing like riding a ferris wheel at 10 below! Ice sculputure festival in Fairbanks is good reason to head north for better northern lights viewing. While there, see if you are tough enough to handle the Chena Hot Springs in winter. We also hiked the Resurrection Pass trail staying in cabins for 3 nights at 20 below. Gotta love that woodstove!

Well, we're still heading south and haven't made it out of B.C. yet. We pulled into Kamloops this after noon and will stay here for a couple of days before heading on to Washington. B.C has been absolutely great traveling through Prince Rupert, Terrence, Smithers, Prince George, William Lake.... This part of B.C. is totally different from the Rocky Mountain part (which we explored going up...Banff, Jasper...ect) and also much different than anything in Alaska.

We really enjoyed the Marine Highway and spent time in Haines, Juneau, Sitka, Ketchikan and Prince Rupert.

We are now on our 111th day and still have about 20 or 30 more before pulling into our driveway in Sou. California. This has been a trip of a lifetime and you better bet that we'll be back. We either traveled through or stopped at just about every town/city in Alaska south of Fairbanks. What a beautiful state! The Kenai Penn is out of this world....mind boggling. The coast of the Southeast is indescribable.

For those of you have been keeping up with this post, thanks for being part of our lives this summer. Hearing all the different views, opinions, and experiences while traveling through has made this trip even more enjoyable. Wish we could have met more of you personally, but there's always next time.

See ya

Just pulled into a campground in Atlanta, Ga. What a culture shock after being in the North for the summer. Found out the front A/C is broken, and the mechanics missed hooking up the dash A/C compressor wire, so we melted today on the road. If I didn't have to turn around and go to Wyoming on October 20th to hunt elk, I'd be headed back North tomorrow. Even with the "hiccup" with the blown engine and all the associated complications, I know we are going back next year.

Well now that everyone seems to be southbound, I just wanted to take a moment and thank everyone that came up to Alaska this year. I met several of you (loggenrock, robanddi, and a few others) and it was very nice talking with you. I do hope everyone got lots of pics and had a great time up here.
Looking forward to meeting more RV.net members next year for anyone planning the trip in '09.

So when do we start the "Who's Going to Alaska in 2009?" thread! LOL!

Hey Ron and everyone else still North,
I am jealous. Back on the east coast, but in the Adirondacks for the week, very nice. I am still reading all the posts, but they are down to a trickle, most of you are "home" like me. It's good to hear that some of you are still enjoying the north country. The only north country I have now is it's dirt that is still on my mh Ron, met you in Tok, you were eating dinner!!! I'm glad you are still having the "trip of your life"!! Safe travels to all, Kathy

Hey Kathy... of course I remember. Too bad we didn't get to spend some time together. We seem to go to just about the same places, same rv parks but just not at the same time. Bummer!

We're down on the Columbia Gorge now and will be heading over to the Oregon coast line tomorrow. Will spend some time there with some other folks from home that spend their summer's there and then on to Salt Lake City to see my youngest and her crew before we head on home on Oct 1st. As mentioned before, this has been a GREAT trip...one we will be talking about for many years to come. We're already planning a return trip in '11 or '12. Gonna try some "workampin'" next year.

It was 83 degrees today in Washington state......heat wave!!! I brought a bunch of shorts and t-shirts for this trip and yesterday was the first time I put a pair on. Sure gonna miss that cool Alaskan weather.

Thanks flipsdaddy for starting this post in the first place...sure would have like to have met you on this trip.

See ya

Ron

Hey...no, com'on...it's not over yet...we are heading up to Mezziadan Junction end of the month for a weekend blow-out at the Provincial Park. It's a staff thing, Skeena Valley Expeditions...a rafting company out of Terrace and we are going to do about 30k's of the Nass, from Mezziadan Lake. I'll run in to Hyder and see if the bears are still munching away.

So..like...let's not be talking '09 yet...'08 still has some life in it.

What an excellent Trip we had Too,and many thanks to all of you who gave everybody so much great information.Sometimes it was hard for us to even find time to get on here or find a Free Wifi spot to get on at.We didn't get a chance to meet many of you because we took advantage of as MANY free spots to stay at as we could-we guessed we saved at least $2,000.00 there alone. It was a once-in-a-lifetime-trip for us as we can't quite afford to do it every year unless we Workkamped which would cramp our get up and go way of travelin.Still tryin to sort out the 1300 pictures we took. Thanks ALSO to the Moderators for lettin people ramble a little cause aint that what this is all about.Wish we could have met more of you-NOW,who's gonna start the On The Road To Alaska 09--and maybe we can give em a little heads up about the COOL stuff We've seen!!
