T-11 days for us!!!! Not that we're counting, right. I am enjoying reading all the posts, especially the info about cg's. We will be traveling in a 38'dp w/toad, so we know we won't fit in all cg's. We have the book by Mike and Terry Church- Alaskan Camping- anyone using it? And do you think the cg descriptions are pretty accurate? In 11 days, start checking your rearview mirrors/cameras - that will be us!!! Keep the posts coming, Kathy

klm, the Church book, Alaskan Camping, is the most accurate of any of the "travel guides" for Northern Canada and Alaska. As you have no doubt noticed the Church book contains "no" advertisements from campgrounds. Most of the others either let the campground/business owner write their own narrative description or the person writing the descriptions is also the same person that is trying to "sell" an ad (on a commission basis) to the campgrounds.
It makes it very hard to be too honest, in their descriptions under those circumstances.
IMHO, the Church book is by far the best, most accurate and honest. While I also like the family owned guide, Bell's Alaska Travel Guide for it's usable size, it like the Milepost, are both in the business of selling advertisements to RV related businesses.
We have been using the Milepost and so far it has been right on. Haven't found anything different than what they say. Only problem we had was Blue Spruce in Prince George with the clerk sending us to a sight where the trees had not been trimmed so a Class A could get in and out properly. They had very few. Happy trails.
We'll be at River's Edge also in a couple days! Ours is just a "preflight" before we get going on our summer trips, but we like to spend a weekend close by the house the first trip of the year (case anything unforseen should arise!) But we'll stop by and say howdy while we're there to be sure!
If you see a black F350 dually with "Tow Twuck" front license plate (TOWTWK on the rear) and an RV.net sticker in the rear window, that'll be us!
ak_traveler...
We look forward to seeing you here!
We're in and out a lot, but will be spending a little time in camp getting some of those pesky domestic duties taken care of.
Have a safe and memorable trip. It is wonderful up here. We arrived at Deep Creek Beach 2 weeks ago Sunday and they put us to work right away. I will have to say it has been fun...mostly.
Memorial Day weekend was a zoo. Most of the time people were really nice, actually extremely nice, but there are always a few who make things difficult. Thank goodness we can turn those people over to the troopers and the rangers. And, there are quite a few stories to tell when I get home.
The beach is qitet on Monday and Tuesday, but fills up on Wednesday until after the July 4 holiday. I guess if I have to complain about anyting, it is the tiresome scenery. I don't know how much longer I will be able to stare at those breathtaking views across the Cook inlet, enjoy the breeze off the water and the almost endless sunshine. Then there are the pleasant people who we meet in our rounds.
Moli has adjusted and loves the beach. She has staring contests with the eagles of which there are currently about 60 frequenting our beach. RJ, Moli and I are happy to be here and we hope to meet some of you as you pass by.
Sorry we missed you. Hope you get down our way again. I am on internet infrequently because the air card isn't working. Till I get a replacement, I will use the library or someone else's computer. Let me know if you do get down this way.
WE are off most Tuesdays and Fridays doing those necessary things like using the dump station and shopping. And laundry and we try to get some sight seeing in

Thanks for the info. Did you take your 5'r up the Dempster or just the tv?
Just the tow veh. might want mud flaps to deflect sharp rocks from rear tires if you wanted to take camper, according to locals in Dawson. Road to Artic Circle would surely be OK, just slow down.
Customs in Poker Creek asked only if I had any beef or fresh fruit from Canada, answer was no, nothing else was mentioned about food.
Did ask if I had Vac. papers on dog.
Very polite and helpful.
