So we've had our coach for a little over a year and love it, but there are some features that we would love to change to suit us better. I've done some initial internet searches and got some ideas of what I want but don't know where in California I might go to look at some of these items.
Firstly, the sofabed that came with the coach is very uncomfortable, even just for sitting or sitting while turned askew to watch the TV above the windshield. I really like the looks of the Villa International sofas, especially the ones with a chaise and a drawer. The closest showroom is in Fresno, CA. I was just wondering if anyone knows of an RV place closer to the San Francisco area?
Second, the dining table and chairs are ok, but again, not terribly comfortable and not the most efficient use of space. We usually eat on the couch at home and would love to do the same in the RV. So out with the dining table and chairs and in would be something like this:
which is a Villa International sectional. We would also like a swing up coffee table that can double as a dining table at the couch. I saw one in the HGTV RV 2008 Show the other day. It was oval shaped and would be perfect. Any one ever seen coffee tables like these, that aren't wood, rectangular and at camping world?
Lastly, we would like to have a larger, flat, widescreen TV that lifts out of a piece of furniture, like a sideboard table or console, sort of like this but with a more useful console. This one has a swivel.
Anyone know where one might look for something like this? This is the only one I've found so far.
It would be nice to take it to one place and have it all done, but I wouldn't know where to start around here. Any suggestions or links would be appreciated!
I doubt you'll find what you want at an RV dealership and to my knowledge we don't have any "local" furniture companies - too expensive to do business in CA. Call Villa in LA and talk to Robert Long, VP of production and tell him what you want. He is really good and will be able to give you an idea what Villa can do. Then you'd need to travel to Villa's shop.
I've had Villa make me some custom sofas that matched my interior colors and scheme to a T.

with respect to rvtommy, livermore is central california; it is about 300 miles to oregon and 300 miles to los angeles. nobody that lives in northern california considers anything on the sacramento to san francisco axis "northern" california.

With respect to you ... I beg to differ with your assessment. As a 'Northern California' native of San Francisco, and having lived from San Francisco / San Jose / Santa Cruz Mountains / Alameda / 65 miles North of Sacramento ... THAT IS ALL Northern California.
San Francisco & Sacramento area ... along with Livermore IS considered by us natives as Northern California ...

Gil,
FlexSteel Company makes some of the furniture for the RV/Marine Industry. I am providing a link to their website.FlexSteel RV Furniture The couch you show in your post appears to be a FlexSteel 'J-Lounge' model 4403-62SJ. I do not think you will be able to come up with an off the floor/premanufactured TV cabinet like you show, as they are built in house by the motorhome manufacturer as an option for specific models. However, you may be able to find a cabinet maker in your area to make you one.
Best of luck

Thanks for all the replies! I've been sitting on this one for a while. I took some measurements while we were on our last trip earlier this month.
We got to thinking, why couldn't we make something ourselves. We're pretty handy and have a ton of tools and shop equipment. I've done woodworking and upholstery projects before and I've got a sewing machine and sewing skills to boot.
We can make a three piece sectional using a wood box frame with storage under each section. The idea is to have two chaise sections on each end and a smaller one in between. We could even use large, store bought, decorative pillows for the back cushions. It all sounds very easy, no springs, no straps, just a lot of cotton batting and heavy fabric stapled to the front, a plywood lid for each section and then the upholstered foam cushions and the decorative pillows for the back and sides. It beats our uncomfortable pre-fab sofa bed.
As for the TV, we'll have to replace our current analog TV with a digital one. We want bigger and widescreen. Maybe just a short, store bought, TV stand to store the DVDs and the TV on top of that all fastened down while on the move.

Ah, California doesn't end at Los Angeles. There is still another 180 miles to the South so that would put Livermore North of the central line.
Looking at THIS map puts Monterey/Fresno at about the central point.
And BTW, I lived in Santa Cruz and Clear Lake and was born in Sacramento. As A "native", I consider all of those places Northern California. And, I am now looking at moving to the Ventura area and have a timeshare in Avila beach and the "natives" there consider those areas Central Coast even though they lie way below the central line. Go figure.
