We spent a week at Sands of Time last year, and won't be going back. The park is clean but most of the better sites are taken with permanently parked trailers, with occupants only on the weekend. There were very few 50 amp sites, and there was no reason apparent in their putting folks in those sites who could only use 30 amp, while relegating larger motorhomes to smaller 30 amp sites. They were also very selective about what nights qualified for Passport America, we were only given 1 night out of our week, then charged for our electricity for that night.
Depends on what you are looking for in a campground...
They all have water, electric, sewer, cable, WiFi, swimming pool, ocean access, game room etc...
Camp-H has 400 sites, 4 bath houses, not a single tree...$75-81 per night...
Ocean Waves has 68 campsites, 3 bath houses, some sites have NICE shade tree's.. $28-34 per night...
KOA...no tree's, never actually camped there so amenities are not known, $75 per night

Camp Hatteras has about 20 sites that front the dunes--walk 20 feet to sand and then to the beach. Furthest site from the beach on the oceanside is no more than a 5 minute walk. Soundside camping--well, you take your chances with the traffic! No water views on the ocean side due to high dunes. Soundside, you can see water as far as you can. We've stayed on both sides and had fun each time. We'll be there July 5th thru the 12th. Cant wait to head out! Site map
