Well. The NC coast is pretty much starved for CGs. There is one at Emeriald. Holliday Travel park. A very small one on Topsail Island. Surf City Family CG.
There is also one at the pier at Holden Beach. but I wouldn't stay there.
The next beach front CG is Myrtle Beach Travel Park.
There are also some on the intercoastal water way at Topsail. Black Beard's Treasure, and Lainer's.
Carolina Beach has one on the water way as well. Carolina Beach Family CG. Carolina Beach State Park, also on the water way. No Hookups, and a KOA in Wilmington, and one in Shalotte.
There are more on The Outer Banks.

Terry,
What's the problem with the campground by the pier on Holden Beach?
I remember passing it a few years ago, looked kinda small but not bad.
My wife and I actually kicked around the idea of spending a few days there next week.
Thanks

Unless it changed in the last few years. The "bath house" Is see thru, as in the planks are falling off the sides. IMOP. It is not well cared for. If you just want to fish off the pier, or be near the beach, and have no need for facilities. It would be OK. But the last time we were on the island. We had a pup. So a bath house was a necessity. I still like to have one handy. That is my take. They did have shelters for the pinic tables though. If it is different now. Please let me know.
It is a real shame, That "The Campground By the Sea" out toward the end of the island closed. We went there alot. Liked it alot as well.

I cannot speak for the bathhouse holes but remember that it is run down. Terryallan is correct. I would stay there just for the beach access & if you have TT facilities that would be great. There are a few prime sites that are practically on the dune overlooking ocean.

I'm getting ready to cancel my reservations tomorrow for the third week of June at Holiday Trav-L Park in Emerald Isle if you're interested in that time frame. Cost of gas/diesel is making our decision.
I like Holiday Trav-L Park, but rates during season are $80/night, then $4/night for extra people (more than two people per site).
