Help!!!
We bought a 1997 Skamper almost a year ago, and it still has a smell that I cannot get rid of. It smells like it was closed up for a long time (not musty, though) and the vinyl was hot (we live in FLorida). I have tried many things but any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Febreze EVERYTHING! Then after that, put an air freshener in a plug for a while while it is up. Also dust and wipe down everything.

Probably the best thing you can do is remove the canvas and clean it throughly. Do the same with the cushions and mattresses. Take the cover off the mattresses, wash them, and wash the foam. Be sure to rinse COMPLETELY. Same with the top, wash it well (a child's plastic swimming pool works well for this) and rinse ALL the soap residue out. I cleaned my cushions with a steam cleaner with an upholstery attachment. Febreze will NOT permantly remove the odors, it will only cover them up. They will come back ever time you close it up for any length of time.

When we bought our 1997 Jayco, it had a strong musty smell inside. It bothered me more than my wife. She removed and washed all the curtains. She also Febreeze'd all the fabric mattress covers and cushion covers. It now smells pleasant inside. That was last spring, and the smell did not come back, not even to my sensitive nose. YMMV.

I take care of apartments for a living - college students - as you can imagine the apts smell pretty bad at the end of the year. One of the best ways I have found to remove all odors is to rent a ozone generator. I get it at a local rental store - put it in the room for 2 or 3 days with all the windows closed - the smell is gone. I would think this would work well to get " the funky smell " out of a pop-up.

I had a buddy that worked for a mortition. They used to spread coffee grounds around to absorb the odors.
Go buy some cheap coffee and spread the grounds on the floor of your pup.Leave sit for 1-2 weeks and vaccum them up.Should look after the smell.
I did this after I had a minor house fire-burned the black piping in a bathroom, wanna talk smell, and it cleared the smell out in less than 2weeks.
I wish you luck.

Flyin' high on caffine and Copenhagen......

Over the years I've come to a realization.
People are a lot like slinky's...not good for much, but it puts a smile on your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.
