Just a funny side note. Appalachian management just called to tell us that they are closed and are refunding the money for our reservation. Too bad they figured out that we didn't have a reservation there this year. Originally told us it was for a week in August. Too bad they got smart before it went through.

I got my call yesterday for our refund! All taken care off.

The woman, who is a seasonal there, i spoke with said they just aren't sure how long it will take them to get back up & running. She said they were NOT having sewer problems but are being required to hook-up to the township sewer system. She did say that a large portion of the campground had already been "setup" for the most part into a large tank for future anticipation of hooking up to the system , but there are a lot the sites not & that might take some time. So it sounds like it's just a matter of getting the remainder sites set up & then hooking into the system. But if you know anything about this process, it's costly & expensive.

I wish them the best because we really enjoy the campground & it's only 10 mins from home.

We have been seasonals at Appalachian for three years, and we really do love the place. Along with hooking up to the public sewer they also have the lead clean up to deal with. Someone told me there is a super fund set up to pay for the removal of the lead contaminated soil, but I am sure it will take some time. We are just keeping our fingers crossed that they will be open for April, 2009 so we can go back home to our seasonal site there. We were really in the dark at first but once management came up with a plan of action I would have to say that we have been treated very fairly. We will be spending this season at Spring Gulch, then hopefully back to Appalachian for the next season.

The same corp that owns Appalachian also owns Robin Hill in Lenhartsville. Maybe you can get them to give you a seasonal there for the summer. I hate to steer you there because they are actively recruiting seasonals and that means fewer sites for those of us who just stay for weekends now & then.

Thanks, I have heard good things about Robin Hill, but I don't think they are still owned by same corporation. They were at one time. They have agreed to move our unit to Spring Gulch for no charge, and we will not have to pay any additional for the site, in fact, we will be getting a refund, so we have decided this is a good deal for this season.
