On the other hand, you should be digging into Montgomery Inn Ribs, Graeters and UDF ice cream, Skyline chili, brats and metts, to name a few! I'm getting low on Montgomery Inn sauce, wanna trade for a bucket of Del's mix?!

Bob Oh man- are you ever! In Cincinnati. Original is in Montgomery. But they've got a place on the river front, too. Very famous, visited by celebs. Legend has it that Bob Hope used to send his private plane in to pick up ribs. Awesome. How far are you from Cincy? Better get down there! The sauce you can buy in local supermarkets. (and on line- as well as ribs shipped on dry ice)

I did a low country boil last weekend. It went over very well. There are many recipes online. The recipe I had called for potatoes, onions, corn on the cob, sausage, and shrimp. I added some mushrooms, whole sweet peppers, and baby carrots. Served with garlic bread toasted on a griddle.

I'm about a half hour outside of Cleveland. Thats why I'm missing out on those ribs. When I head south its usually down I-77 (free camping on AEP lands ). I might have to change and go down I-71 ...anyway, I haven't been to Nashville in years.

I didn't mean to hijack, but sometimes... I don't usually cook for large groups so I read the suggestions and cut them down to one or two people in my head.
Dollar General has been selling flour tortillas pretty cheap (for Ohio anyway). And I dearly love flour tortillas. I've been playing around with what I think they're calling "wraps" in the fast food commercials. I was making cole slaw yesterday, looked at the shredded cabbage and thought "that would be a helluvalot easier than making cabbage rolls".
So a little browned ground beef, a couple handfuls of cabbage tossed into pan with the drained burger, and some leftover tomato sauce made a quick and easy "cabbage wrap". I added cumin and picante sauce. Very good- surprised me- the 'quickies' usually sound a lot better than they taste.
If I were going to do it on purpose I'd guess:
1 pound ground beef
1/2 pound ground pork
Chopped Onion and garlic to taste
1 large head of cabbage shredded
1 24 oz jar of spaghetti sauce (or your favorite recipe for stuffed cabbage or..)
Flour tortillas
Salt, pepper, and spices to taste.
Brown the ground beef, pork, onion and garlic in a large frying pan and drain. Add the cabbage and cover. Stir frequently. If there isn't enough moisture in the cabbage to keep it from burning add a little water. If your pan won't hold all the cabbage, cook in "shifts" with some of the ground meat in each batch. Add the sauce to the pan or the whole mixture to a Dutch Oven and warm through. Simmer uncovered or add liquid to "adjust"- mine were kinda messy.
You could add rice but that adds an extra pot. I was thinking about easy cleanup too.

For Grinders--I'm Politicaly correct now, I call them Hot Italian Sausage sandwiches, instead of the derogatory "Hot Degos". Don't forget to add the pepperoni. I brown that with the meat to get rid of the grease. I use Frozen Meat Balls and slice them in half or brown loose hamburger. I freeze the left overs in 1# containers and have at work.

Red beans and rice with polish kielbasa. Cook the sausage on the grill, then slice up and add to the red beans. I usually cook the red beans from scratch ahead of time, but you can also use the canned red kidney beans. Spice up with lots of garlic and cajun spice.

I didn't use Old Bay. I had it but nobody wanted it. I used salt and 3 bags of Zatarain's crab boil in about 2.5 quarts of water. The mushrooms soaked up more heat than the rest of the items. IMO the corn was the best part - spicy yet very sweet. I used a 12qt pot, fed 6, and had enough leftovers for at least 2 more people.
