I suggest you padlock your hitch handle latch and consider getting a BedSaver, which is cheap insurance.

Purchase a $160.00 insurance policy ( BED SAVER ) for that senior moment.

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

I have heard of those but have not seen one. I definitly wil buy one. The hitch is a super slider & was professionally installed. I don't have the F-250 with me right now, but from my memory I can't figure out how I am going to padlock the lever. the hitch has 2 padlocks.

As far as I know, Bed Saver is not currently available for anything but the 16K SuperGlide.

To lock your SuperGlide, place the padlock thru the hole where handle slides. This takes up the space needed to lift the hitch to unhook. With the lock in there, the handle cannot be lifted up.

I know mine is a Pullrite I will have to check it out this evening when I get home. These pix were taken when the incident happened.

Sorry to hear that, lucky their wasn't more damage. I have a Sig. series
hitch, and several times it looked hitched, but when I went to put the safety pin back in the hole, it wouldn't go in because of some safety lever device on my hitch, so sure enough I check it, and it wasn't locked, it was sitting high on the hitch like mentioned. Now I always make my truck fight a little to get under the trailer to make sure it's right.

I don't know if it makes a difference, our trailer is a toyhauler & there is an extension plate on the trailer pin.

It looks like you have a short bed and a slider hitch. It is possible that you hitched high, sprung the handle and thought you were good to go. I had a superglide on my last truck and a regular pullrite on this one. I always look inside to be sure the jaws have closed. Good habit to get into.

That is likely the SuperGlide capture plate. The "V" key under the plate engages the hitch plate so the hitchplate turns with the trailer angle. It is supposed to be there to make sure the SuperGlide slides back and forth automatically as the truck turns.

I checked out the pix of your toyhauler. Very nice.
