Has anyone stayed here and dealt with their annoying "Rotating Assignment" policy for the RV sites ? You don't get to choose your preferred site, "the computer does it for us". I understand that the owners that bought the less exspensive lots in the back probably wouldn't be reserved as much but if I'm paying $50+ per night, I want to choose my own site !

Hi,
We ran into that issue for the first time last year. We've been spending winters there for years. It's a ridiculous rule, we could have been assigned a waterfront site for additional charge, even though we didn't want it. Fortunately, we got a site in the area we wanted near the boardwalk, but it could have been a serious problem. We noticed the park was very open, not like the past. Don't know why, but it could be an issue. I think management realizes it's a problem, maybe it'll be resolved before next December.

We experienced the crazy rotation ourselves on our last visit. We used to be able to choose an area of the resort we preferred. Now the computer picks your site based on rotation. We did not get the area we like on the last trip and are considering another beach destination this summer. It is too bad because Gulf Waters is such a nice place. The rotation policy may be good for the lot owners but not good for us visitors.

We experienced the same rotation thing in a nearly empty park. Had prepaid reservations for three nights but after one night, received an emergency phone call from our daughter and we had to return home. I explained to the manager but there is NO REFUND,NO RAIN CHECK and no apology for anything. That was their policy without any exceptions. Nice place but we will never return.

Funny I agree... the front desk does have an attitude. I ran into that myself last time I was there. The park was only 1/2 full and I ask to locate closer to the boardwalk but that was arrogantly and totally impossible.
It's too bad some of the nicer places like Gulf Waters has to be like this because I would definitely stay there more often. So now we are looking elsewhere for our next extended visit. Maybe the Gulf Waters HOA needs to hear about some of these complaints before the all lot owners have NO MORE VISITORS renting their spaces!

I think you're right----management/owners are considering a change in the aggravating rotation system. If owners who got the earlier/or later, more expensive lots, get more rental occupancy-----join the world. Location, location, location.

The owners established the rules and regs according to the arrogant manager claiming it was all agreed upon by them. Let them change the rules to make sense and we still won't return. Too many places just as nice with better accommodating attitudes. Besides they owe me about $80.

Has anyone stayed there this summer ? I was just curious if their "Rotating Site Assignment" rule was still in effect ?

We stayed at Gulf Waters last summer. We didn't have reservations and just pulled in. They told us how things worked and told us which site we would be in so we went and looked at it and it was a nice site overlooking one of the "lakes" in the middle. I think if I was going to be there for an extended period of time I would prefer being closer to the beach and the boardwalk but they were basically a take it or leave it kind of place.

To the desk person's defense, the rules are based on the RV site owners' wishes and if that's how they want to run the place that's the way it goes. Gulf Waters does appear to the best premier type of campground in Port A. The rest of them are packed like sardines or run down and old.
