If so let me know, I'll be there.
I was there for the Fall Festival, nice place, museum is the greatest. Enjoy

Be careful at Deal's Gap, the law started a crackdown on speeders last year and it will continue till the speeding has stopped. This is according to a friend of mine who lives near there. The road is a state route and the state is trying to put a stop to all the motorcyclists ripping down the road.

I will be at Barber. I have a site reserved on the hill above the pits. This will be my second time camping there, but the first was IN the pits as part of a track day (a bit nicer, paved with electrical hookups), so we'll see how "primitive" on the hill works out for us.
Not taking a bike this trip, just the scooter for putting around at the track.
I've been taking riding trips to the mountains for many years (after all, Florida is FLAT), and remember "ye olde days" at the gap. I mostly just "Sport Tour" up there now, I've taken the "faster" (a relative term for me ) riding to track days.
FYI, if you have some spare cash hanging around, the "Deal's Gap Resort" is for sale...
If you've never been to Deal's Gap, by all means go just to say you were there. Other than that, there are plenty of other roads just as tight/technical/scenic all over western NC with a lot less traffic and associated enforcement.

I think those sites on the hill have power & water hook-ups. I am planning to park in the camping area. With no hook ups.

Nope, not unless they are planning that as a "special surprise" just for me (and I wouldn't complain). They are pretty clear that it doesn't. You pay for the view and a little more space, that's about it.
Even the pit spots don't have water or sewer hookups. they do have first class multi-amp power hookups though...
