We are taking a cross country trip from Massachusetts to California and back this summer, anyone else nuts enough to spend 7-8 weeks on the road and spend $5k on fuel doing a similar trip?

Leaving NC to Florida Panhandle along the coast to south Texas, across Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Up the California coast to North of San Fran. back through Nevada .North Rim of Grand Canyon , across upper New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas , Arkansas, Tenn. back to NC
Just got back last month from the up and down trip. Wa to Az, 3384 miles in 31 days with a ten day layover on the coast. July/August will bring a trip to Iowa and then down along the Mississippi to Cape Girardeau, Mo. and we don't like heat so there is nuts. Diesel should be around five dollars a gallon by then. Aren't we lucky?
