We got back from a 4.700 mile trip a couple of weeks ago and didn't, notice it at that time but the front of my new HHR looks like it has been shot with a shotgun. I have a full mud flap across the back of rv. how could this happen and what can I do to fix it. .THANKS..

Don't know. I have a full mud flap. My toad still looks good after 35,000 miles towed.

How close to the ground is the mud flap? It should clear by 3 or 4 inches on flat ground. Closer than that and it can through up stones. I have a full flap and have towed my HHR 15,000 miles and have only 1 stone chip... on the roof.

Towed all over this country and have used the Roadmaster Guardian Rock Shield and haven't had any problems. It is well worth the investment.

I used one of these to protect my CRV on our trip to Alaska last year. Didn't have any damage to the CRV.

Your best bet is Protect-a-Tow, it doesn't create a wind drag like those big cumbersome shields and real easy to store away when not being used. We've had ours for a few years and many miles of travel and no stone chips on our toad. The price is right too! Protect-a-Tow
