Started with a 27' Winnie (class C) 5 years ago and purchased a 5 star hotel on wheels in October! Our 2008 Sunrise has had a few minor issues (all new homes do!) that have been quickly taken care of. If you want quality and a coach you can have confidence in - I'd choose Itasca/Winnebago again. Good luck in your search and enjoy the road.

We've had our Horizon just about 5 years, and we are still very happy with it. Our 3rd Winnebago, and would buy another. During the 5 years, we have had no major problems. They hold up very well.

OntMontana wrote: I would be very interested in the opinions of Winnebago/Itasca owners re the overall quality of their coaches (gasser and DP). My impression is that the quality is reasonably good and that, as with all other brands, the quality of the dealer service and factory support can make all the difference. We are definitely impressed with some of the unique floorplans as well as the exterior design of many Winnebago/Itasca coaches, especially the new Suncruiser.
Thanks for your comments.

We purchased a new 2006 Itasca Meridian 39K in February of '06 and currently have 10,000 miles on it. My biggest problem with it was a Freightliner issue, when I drove it off the lot and brought it home the fuel gauge started intermittently going from empty to full and then would work fine for several hundred miles and then would act up again intermittently. It finally went out completely a couple of months ago so I brought it to a Freightliner dealer and it took them over 100 hours to find the problem; it was in a bundle of wiring that had been damaged from the factory. In fact the technician at the local Freightliner shop told me they could not find the problem so I called the Freightliner National Service Center and spoke to one of their experts and he told me that they would get to the bottom of it, a couple of hours later he called me back and told me that it was repaired. Other than that problem we have had minor problems that I was able to repair myself. We like our Meridian but the wife would love to have a Newmar Dutchstar or Mountainaire and I figure one day she will get what she wants, she usually does. I'm almost done paying for this one so I imagine there will be a new one before long.

We've been very satisfied with the Itasca we bought used 3 years ago. Lot's of little built-in touches that show their long experience in building MH's. Also pleased with their service department with the few issues we've had on our now 8 year old unit.
All that said and done, if I lived in Canada, I would take a trip over to the Triple E factory (or find a dealer closer) and take a close look at how they build MH's.

2000 Winnebago Adventurer -- This is our second Winnebago and I have been very pleased with both this A and the Minnie. Have not had any major problems -- even on a 12,000 roundtrip to Alaska from NC.
In the next few months we will be looking to trade for a Winnebago Journey. Like someone else said -- this company has been in business for 50 years which says a lot.

We've rented a Triple E class C and an Itasca C. Same length. We liked the Itasca floorplan as it was more useable. I'd call the build quality about the same - very good.
Our Itasca A also has very good build quality. All 4 issues to date have been from supplier components as opposed to anything Itasca built. so that could happen to any coach. All are also minor.
For your choices you listed I'd say it comes down to floorplan over brand - IE they all build a great coach for the money but go about it a slightly different way. In my experience Itasca is built/designed by somebody who has actually stayed many nights in a MH. Things like switches and labels are placed logically and there are some nice features that just quietly work their jobs. I don't have enough experience to say more about the other brands.

Winnebago is like the other brands, they all have problems. Some more than others, but they all make a lemon every now and then. If your unlucky enough to get the lemon your not happy whatever brand it is. We have had 2 Winnebago/Itasca gas models, both have been rather trouble free. Nothing I couldn't fix myself.

I am not a W/I owner but I have driven a few. Because many coaches use similar interior fit-ups, IMO the real test is in the driving. Check the wheel base to overall length ratio (which relates to rear overhang) and then drive coaches from different mfgs (back-to back if possible) and look for noise, ride and handling differences.
