This may not be the right forum but here goes. I get really aggravated when I see or hear about campgrounds that do not allow a MH over 10 years old, pop ups, tents, kids, etc. Campers are campers. We go where we can afford. There is nothing more entertaining than watching kids have a great time. The whole idea of camping is camaraderie and making new friends. We will not camp at a place that has those restrictions. Most people purchase what they can afford in order to enjoy the RV lifestyle. I will now get off my soapbox. If I offended anyone, so be it.

I always appreciate a good rant. I am surprised to hear that such places exist.

I totally agree with you. I really don't care who is camping next to me as long as they're considerate. DW's parents, who are full timers, have an 1998 Winnie. They MH is pristine. They wash and wax it once a month. It's like it just came out of the showroom. They've been denied access to some campgrounds they thought they wanted to stay at. They've passed them up and spent their money on down the road.

From my limited experience in camping I avoid all of the "resort" types of places. If I want to go swimming it will be in a lake or river. If I want to go fishing it will NOT be in a stocked pond. I don't play golf any longer, so basically NONE of the amenities that this type of places offers appeals to me. Now, I understand that there are a lot of folks with more disposable income than I have and if that is what they want, so be it.

I tend to agree with you, but maybe the campgrounds are profiling (for lack of a better word) based on their past experiences. Maybe they've found that generally people with older motorhomes, tent campers, and/or families with several kids tend to be the most troublesome, messy, or disruptive. Who knows.

Most use this as a general rule of thumb and will allow you in, if rig photo sent proves it's keeped up. They placed these restrictions years ago when the old rigs looked old. Today the 1996 and some older rigs are the same design as the new ones, and if keep clean and repaired can look newer than some a few years old that haven't been kept up. If you are former or current military there are places you can get into that the general public can't, no matter how new their rigs are.

This doesn't really bother me. If a private campground wants to limit its' customers to only certain types, fine. I just want it to be made clear in the campground's information / website / reservation info, etc.
My family still looks for "family campgrounds". We want a pool, playgrounds, planned activities, rec hall, game room, playing fields, etc. We have no problem with kids and dogs running around yelling and playing. The location of the campground isn't critical, many times we don't leave the property if there is enough to do.
I can certainly see in the not-to-distant future looking for quieter campgrounds, and having less need for playgrounds and such. I can also see in the far future, the wife and I looking for quiet campgrounds to relax at.
As I said, as long as the private campground information is honest about the campground, I have no problem with that. If I don't like it, I'll go to another campground.

I find the constant screaming of kids to be annoying.
I find that many of the behaviors of my fellow campers to be annoying.
I have a great circle of friends. I like to get away from it all when I camp.

Well I have to agree with RetiredArmy I enjoy watching kids enjoying themselves running around playing instead of sitting around playing playstation or out getting in trouble because they're parents do not have the time to watch them or take them out and have fun. With that said as long as the campground states it in they're rules and on they're website if they have one that they do not want Campers older then ?? or no kids etc... and enforce the rules fairly across the board then that is fine with me also...They will not get my business but so be it. Me and my old camper and kids will just go somewhere that people are friendly instead of snobby!! The sound of childrens laughter is welcome to my ears anytime except after quiet hours!!
