Does anyone know if the jumper harness for the brake controller is standard eqipment on a 07 Silverado 2500HD. Or is it an Option?
I am about to buy a new 07 (leftover) silverado 2500 HD 4x4 and no one at the dealer seems to have any awnsers.Im thinking it is up under the dash somewhere, The truck comes with a hitch and trailering package. The dealer thinks the brake controller will have to be HARD WIRED and I am not too fond of that Idea!!!
I would sure apprciate any imput. Thank Dick R.

My '06 came with the harness wrapped up inside the glove box, all I had to do was plug it in under the dash on the left side of the steering wheel, and add a fuse to the panel under the hood. I can't imagine that much changed from the '06 to the '07 in that respect

My 2004 also had a seperate cable in the glove box. The dealers service dept. should be able to find it if the sales people can't.

I know the new body styles have a wire bundle up under the dash to connect your controller into and the is a cable under the hood that will need to be connected. Not sure what the bundle looks like or exactly where to find the end of it but it should be up there.

It sounds like GM got rid of the brake controller connection. Another "improvement", right up there with tax simplification. I wonder if GM will ever figure out why their market share goes down?

I'm guessing it has more to do with the integrated brake controller and not wanting to have 2 hooked up at the same time so when they make the harness, they just put both in place and hook up what ever you have ordered... But I'm just guessing...

We ordered the trailer package and the controller came installed.

The 7 plug in bed wiring 5th wheel package that we ordered was not installed and the wiring was behind the bed behind the cab. Also the wiring that would charge the battery in the trailer was not installed. Not sure why they would not hook these thing up when you order a 5th wheel package.

Mine is an 07 classic also. There should have been a wiring harness and connector in the glove box with a 40 amp fuse. When I did my controller I bought the harness for the controller that uses the factory plug in under the dash. I used this LINK when I hooked mine up. It is step by step with pictures for the 01-07 Classic body style.

The 2007 new body style does not have a plug or pigtail. There is a bundle of wires under the dash, below the steering wheel. You also need to put in a fuse and hook up two wires under the hood. The hardest part was finding the nuts to hook the wires onto the studs.

I found several articles online about it and the owners manual actually had pretty good instructions. Not as bad as it sounds - took 15 minutes (not counting trip to Wal-Mart for a fuse and digging around in my toolbox for nuts).

Good luck,
David
