ok, ok, so some people don't agree w/ it. That's fine.
But those that do it, I need advice:

We'd like to go back to Disneyland this summer. But we'd need to cut down costs if we want to go. Only my husband works and I still haven't been able to find a job - so we were thinking to boondock while we were there

We could drive to Disneyland each day, best thing about that is that if the kids(7, 4, 3) needed a rest we'd have a place to take them to, right outside.
Are there Wal-Marts or places nearby to park over night?
Nearby dumpstations?

I can probably find all the information online, but perhaps someone has already done it and can give us some tips, or best way of doing this.

Also, we'd like to take the kids to the beach. Is there a better place to leave the rv and walk to the beach? (No toad)
Which beach is best?

We're driving from Phoenix and we're probably only going to stay 3 or 4 nights.

I don't blame you for wanting to cut down on costs by boondocking. DW wants to go back to Georgia and South Carolina gain and I don't want to fly there. I want to boon dock on the way back and pull our TT. I am interested in some of the answers you will get on this one. Thanks for posting your question.

We are hoping that we can do some boondocking on our way across the country, not every night but when we are just passing through.

Another RV. Netter sent me this link Free Campgroundsit might have something to offer.

Good luck!

First,
Sorry about the double post.
I keep having trouble w/ this site, it tells me that I've reached a non-existant page, I try again, next thing I know there's two posts. Sorry, I already asked the moderator to delete one.

Thx for being understanding on the boon docking thing. I hope we get someone who's done the Disney thing.
Thx for the site, I will keep that handy for future trips. Unfortunately, I didn't see any near Disneyland.

I've been wondering the same thing. Might see big ears in August.

Hi,

It is a 360 mile drive from Phoenix to Garden Grove (give or take a few miles). I used to live there, and it is fairly close to Disneyland. There is a Sam's Club on Beach BLVD, a mile or so north of the 22 freeway. It used to allow overnight parking, but might have signs posting not to camp there anymore. There is another Wal Mart just south of the 22 freeway, on the west side, that I have seen overnight parking there about a year ago.

If you take Chapman east from Beach BLVD to West street, then turn left, northbound, you will get to Disneyland in a couple of miles. (West street used to be the western edge of Anahiem)

Be sure to check out the new park beside Disneyland.

If you are on Beach BLVD, you can take it south of the 22 freeway for about 7 miles, and run into the beach. There is parking at the state run parking lots for about $7, and you can be right on the beach, or by going north about 1 mile, there is a Thrifty's drug store, where you could probably stay for free while the store is open, but it would be a long walk to the beach, or take a bike ride.

Magnolia and Brookhurst Street also go south into Pacific Coast Highway, at the beach. There is a campground on the beach, called Bolsa Chica State Beach. They have a 30 amp service and fresh water to each site, with a nearby dump station. However it is usully booked well in advance.

You can also do a search for Wal Mart and Sams Club for zip code 92802 - that area is next to Disneyland.

Fred.

IF the Sams Club and Walmart don't cut it for you and you don't mind driving about 10 miles east, there is a RV park in "Santa Ana Canyon" called "Canyon RV park." (Formerly "Featherly Park")l It's nestled amoungs lots of trees and right off the 91 fwy in the city of Anaheim. You can find them in most RV directories or on the web. Do a Google search. It's kinda out of the way of Disneyland and much safer than large parking lots in the city of "Garbage Grove" (Garden Grove). If you have a trailer, you could leave your trailer there and drive to Disneyland or anywhere in Orange County. Yeah it's not free like a Sams club, but it's more relaxing than having to worry about someone kicking you out of their parking lot at night.

Plus, if you continue on the 91 east from that location, you would end up on the 60 or 10 freeways.

Just a thought.

Perfect info, Fred! Thx!

I do plan on mapping out our stops, since I don't know the area "like the back of my hand".
I also plan on calling which ever store we decide to spend the night and make sure it will be ok - 'cuz, I do NOT want to get kicked out in the middle of the night. Thx, Adam-12

Remember Dizzyland is not in the most desirable part of SoCal, so personally I would NOT attempt it. There are a lot of full hookup camp grounds in the area. As I understand from SIL Disney is buying up all the property around the park in an attempt to weed out the rifraf, and I doube that the police would be receptive to allowing you to camp in walmart or anyplace else without hookups.

Oh......you mean where 3 bedroom houses are selling for almost a million bucks?

As a resident of Orange County and one who lives less than 5 miles form Disneyland.......I have no idea what you mean about "not in the most desirable part of SoCal"..........

As a homeowner in this less than desirable part of So-Cal.......I'm sitting on a gold mine!
