well we are back in denver after a fun and eventful trip. as an update after the first day at universal we decided we wanted a change of scenery so we drove out 101 to san bernardino county and spent the night at one of the numerous state and federal beach parks that are all along hwy 1 up and down the coast. it was nice to hear the ocean and the dogs loved it. the next day we returned for our second day at universal and that is when the trip took a turn for the worse. when you enter universal in an rv the employee directing traffic will direct you to take a right turn to go around to the oversize lot, this is all good except the lane the road dumps you in as you approach the parking entrance plaza is the far right lane. as a word of advice get out of that lane as soon as you can even if you have to cause traffic problems doing so. the entrance plaza booth that the right lane proceeds through is too narrow for a wide body rv. long story short, as we approached the plaza following the employees instructions and not seeing any warning signs other than the one advising the height of 13 feet we were greeted by the ticket person and as we pulled forward to hand him the money we heard a sickening crunch on the right side of the rv. turns out we had barely brushed the other side of the plaza with the awning removing @3in of primer paint from the building. unfortunately that slight tap was enough to tear the awning loose from its mounts and destroy the release mechanisms as well as shift the awning back @3in in the track along the top of the rv. amazingly enough the reason the building was being repainted was because of all the "other" rv's that had hit it in the past according to the employee. so now that we are back in denver we are waiting for the insurance people to determine who will pay to replace the awning, the universal folks or my insurance. i was just glad it stayed attached to the rv for the trip home.

I hope everything works out for you and your family to take your trip. Disney vacations are expensive and I understand the need to cut corners wherever you can. Your children will be so excited about that trip. I teach kindergarten. All the children want to go to Disney. Some children have even asked me to take them there (DisneyWorld) on a field trip. I told them I would if I could, but it is too far away (about 450 miles form school) and would cost too much money. Some people laugh at me for saying that I would take them there, but I really would. We were not financially able to carry our son to Disney when he was young. His first trip there was with the school band, so I sympathetic to your desire to provide your children with the Disney trip. I hope you and your family get to have the experience. Don't let the negative replies to your post prevent you from going for it.
