Our previous 5th wheel didn't have a slide. Our new one has two, so this is something new for us. My wife had put a porcelon type coffee warmer with a glass candle holder sitting on it on the back shelf next to one of the slides. When I pulled the trailer out of the rv port, the coffee warmer and candle holder fell off the shelf and onto the floor. Then when I put the slides out both items got jammed between the slide header and the inside wall of the trailer. The coffee warmer popped out but the glass candle holder shattered. Luckily no serious damage, just some glass to clean up, but now we are extra careful to check for anything in the way of the slides when we put them in or out.

Last time out, was slowly turning right into a cafe's parking lot while looking for a place to park the rig. I did not notice the mail box on the post at the edge of the drive way until the noise. Ended up with a few scrapes and scratches and a nice gouge out of the Fiberglas door. Quote for a new door in excess of $700, $350 to patch. Am now trying to come up with some sort of design I could make with duct tape that would cover the hole.

I took out the side of my wifes minivan with a cargo trailer while blindsiding it into the driveway a few years ago.

Ahhh it's only a 14 foot cargo trailer - I know where the corner is and I have it cranked enough to miss the van.

Crrrrruuuuuunch ! !

. . . . . . . . oops. . . .

Wasn't even my trailer - I borrowed it!

Like a couple previous posts, I backed the TT into the garage gutter - not once, but twice. But thats OK, it was already caved in from the time I backed up my driveway with the pickup, forgetting I had an aluminum extension ladder sticking up out over the top of my rack, leaning into the box.

Oh well, shows that none of us are perfect and we can laugh at our blunders!

I left the furnice on after we got back home from a trip. Ran the battery down. Also forgot to put the fuel cap back on the extra tank in the back of the pick-up and sloshed out several gallons in the bed of the truck.

We rented a LARGE class C and were on our way from FL to TN. As we were driving, a small car came from behind us and was waving their arms and honking their horn. Worried, we checked all the mirrors and stopped and double checked all of the hatch doors--all secure, we continued to drive. Several hours into our trip, another car, pulled around and did the same thing. We decided to continue until we got to TN. Pulling into the driveway of a family member's house, we finally found the problem. One of the ears on the sewage cap had broken off and the cap was dangling. The kids laughed hysterically as they had been allowed to use the bathroom as we traveled. SOOOOOOOO awful!!!

When sand camping, I forgot to put the stairs up on the old prowler and darn near ripped them off. Ended up replacing them.

Caught a gas pump - darn "tail swing".

Forgot to turn on the fridge after we plugged in to shore power at home - a month later I opened the door of the trailer and about hurled. I paid the teenage son $25. and paid for a movie to clean the fridge.

Forgot about the tailgate after unhooking - it was loud! Still works, but its hard to get one side unlatched.

Forgot to close a vent before taking off - another oops.

The ex bf directed me while backing into a huge boulder - how did he miss that?! Now I only trust the same sweet teenager who cleaned that nasty fridge.

Things flying off the counter because I forgot to put them away - the usual stuff

We picked up our new 5er and stopped at the first rest stop we came to make sure everything was riding okay—it wasn’t. The water heater access panel was gone. I hadn’t yet learned the importance of folding down the latch.

great thread....

Nice to know I am not alone on a few of these...

guilty of the TV ant up trick....pulled out of a heavy tree camp site...needless today, we are without TV ant right now. Thank God for DirectTV

My new one. (The set up. I have short bed with manaul slider hitch, tow a 5er) I recently got the bright idea of opening the tail gate access panel on the tail gate to fix a rattle...well make sure you put the tension rods in the same place. While towing on our last trip my tale gate dropped, didn't know it, made a turn.....CRUNCH, tore up the basement door and bent the tail gate a little.

A picture of my repair.

Well I will go on and admit to it and I know others have done but won't admit to it. Hook the truck up to the fifth wheel, developed a case of cranial rectosis and did not make sure the king pin was latched into the receiver and took off leaving a large thud, dented bed rails and ruined a clean pair of tidy whities

Have one my DH performed~we travel to dog shows alot and the RV parking nazis lead you to your site via golf carts. So we are following them thru this large grassy field and they point to a spot they want us to land the rig. So DH pulls close to a large white post with hookups and I see the faces of the parking nazis as they go from shock to horror. We land then look at the drivers side where the post is~he managed to drag the trailer about 5 feet along the post punching out the basement compartment latches and putting a 4 foot scrape down the side of the trailer. The post still stood but it was very wobbly in its spot now. He was able to Bondo the latch back into position and painted over the deep scrapes (no way to get them to buff out-too deep) and he kept saying "we are nice and close to the hookups honey!" Smack upside his head!!
