depends on size, year and how well it was taken care of.
my 1st TT was a 73(this was late 90's) funmaker. mine was original owner in mint condition-they were just too old to camp any more. loved that little TT and had a lot of fun/fond memories with it-but-it's going to depend on the type of camping they are going to do. was a great little unit for week ends at the local CG's but we found it's limitations on our 1st 2 week vacation. with out knowing more it's a hard one to call

They're generally considered to be pretty well built. We've looked at them, and they have a lot of positive features, but we really don't like the design of the showers. As with any used trailer, your friends need to really look it over carefully, and check and try everything before purchasing. From what I've seen, gambling on a used Hi-Lo is a better bet than gambling on a lot of other used trailers that are on the market.............but, any trailer can be a bad bet if it hasn't been cared for and kept water tight!

I agree with scbwr, they have a pretty good reputation. I think they tend to be heavy for their size, and of course they're not as easy to use along the road as a regular trailer - though can still be put up while hitched, I believe, unlike popups or Trailmanors. For us, they lack storage and living space for their towing size, but for some folks they could be ideal.

This is a myth. Trailmanors can be popped open when connected to a tow vehicle. I have no experience with popups, just my Trailmanor.
I can pop my Trailmanor open about as fast as my brother can extend all of the slides in his FW.

We looked at both the HiLo and the Trailmanor. The Trailmanor has more room when open, so we bought it. IMO, the HILO is a quality product. It just was not the right product for what we want to do.

Mine takes 12 seconds to lift up - then it's a regular TT so I think that's pretty comparable for use along the road. And it certainly can be lifted while attached to the TV.
Being able to store it at home in the regular garage is a big benefit, at least in my mind. Ease of towing (low profile, better mileage than a conventional TT of similar weight) is also a benefit.
unless you have some compelling reason to need the hilo I think a "normal" TT would be preferable, more storage, some basement, not a sucky bath, closet doesn't lay down like on the trailmanor, etc.
if you need to slide it in your garage, perfect however.
