I have a Keystone Cougar and haven't thought of a great way to mount the bikes to the sliding rack. Anyone have any pics or suggestions?

We only haul 2 bikes but DH puts one on the inside of the bumper and the other the tires goes on the bumper. We tried to put them both between the bumper and the camper but the handlebars always seem to hit the end of the camper. He used nylon straps to secure the bike on the bumper to the bumper and uses bungys to tighten them both down. Hope I haven't really confused you now!

We also have the Cougar with the sliding rack. Last year I could get all 4 bikes on it. I would loosen and turn the handle bars of the first bike so they did not hit the back of the camper, alternate which way the other bikes faced and pull them up tight to the support pole.

We just got a couple of new "beach cruiser" bikes and they won't fit that way. Since it was new, I put DW's bike in the camper, but that will not work once we start going to the beach and it get dirty.

I've been working on a sketch (many sketches) of a hanging rack to put on the sliding rack. The bikes would hang by thier front wheels and be tied down such they did not bang into each other. I saw one on the back of a camper in Myrtle Beach, but they were leaving and I could not get my camera out fast enough.

My husband put a pad around that 'bar' they give you to put in the bike rack,
then uses 2 tie down straps that wratchet and wratchets them criss-cross and
hooks them and they worked fine for us on a 5 hour trip recently.
I have never taken any pics but if someone needs them - I can try!
Never posted a pic here before.........

He makes sure they do NOT lean up against the fiver.

You can go to my profile to my set up..
I have mounted two receivers to the bumper. A neighbor and I fabricated the frame. I know, but there isn't that much weight there anyways.

I got a cheap bumper mount rack from JC Whitney (under $80) and modified it to slip over the upright post. I can carry the bikes on the platform or reverse the rack and carry bikes with bumper slid in. Inexpensive pipe foam insulation pads the upright and separates the bikes. If this photo does not work it, and others, can be seen on the link in my signature.
