Hi everyone, We have been looking to buy our first TH and was looking at the Raptors but have now started looking at the Cyclones. Does anyone have any input good or bad about this unit. Thanks.

Cyclones seem to have good reviews so far, but are still fairly new (maybe a year or so). I had a Raptor and although it faired us well, there were many things about it that I worried about in the future. For one just look underneath any Raptor new or used at the frame, springs, mounts, brakes, etc. and you will likely see a lot of rust even brand new. When it comes time to unbolt something, I doubt your sockets would even get around the nut being worked on. That concerned me a lot and I wish I had payed attention, or less money when I bought. Now have a Forest River XLR, and have seen some concerns online about Forest River products in the past, but the quality compared to the Raptor so far is much better. All the brands have their pros and cons.
Good luck.

I have had EXTREMELY bad luck with heartland, Tried to post on the heartland web site (mufflerman) and they banned me. this is why you may see more pos. posts than neg.
I am currently traveling down the road That can't be mentioned on here.
Heartland has improved over the last two years, but still has a ways to go on Q.C.
If you decide to purchase heartland here are a few things to check.
1) heat airflow in bedroom
2) the heater is in install correctly
3) there is a hole for manual access on the landing gear
4) the main slide doesn't leak
5) there's no cracks in frame around ramp door
6) the rear corner caps are sealed (on the roof)
7) all the roof vent caps are installed
8) the gen is wired
9) the rear clearance lights are wired
10)the fuel station is wired
11)the cabinets are screwed to the wall(over dresser)
12)the kitchen cabinets are screwed to the wall
13)the booth is screwed to the wall
14)the shower drain is not to high
15)the shower door is on correctly
16)the rear bunks are secured to a wall stud and straight
17)the fresh water tank doesn't fall out
18)the fresh water vents are installed correctly ( you may lose 1/2 tank of water in 30 miles)
19)the black tank drain goes down hill
20)the plumbing underneath is supported
21)the hose to the fuel station is long enough
22)all the rims match
23)the rear stab jacks are wired
24)the front landing gear is not bent
the list goes on but this will get you started
good luck on whatever you purchase

I agree with the last post (err...the second post)...all brands have their problems.
We recently took delivery of a Cyclone 4012 and just came back from our second trip. Overall, I am very impressed...especially with the quality and craftsmanship. With the exception of a few very minor details (inside trim piece around the dinnette slide poped off during our trip...easily went right back on), we have nothing bad to report.
But, keep one thing is mind...qulity and craftmanship weigh more. So, you probably want to get the right tow rig for it.
If you do choose a Cyclone then I'm sure you'll be happy.
BTW, this is our first Toy Hauler too!
Good Luck and Rock On...

Cyclones have been out for about 3 years, maybe 4. I was looking at Raptor 3612 & Sandpiper double slide 5th wheel. Decided on Raptor because of aluminum frame. Then saw Cyclone and started comparing Cyclone vs. Raptor. They are very similar units. First Cyclone I saw was way out of my price range, but some online shopping took care of that and I paid less than the best deal I could find for the Raptor. Only differences I can remember, Cyclone has a King size bed up front. At the time Raptors didn't have the queen beds in the garage. Major convincer for me was the end cap of the Cyclone will allow 89 degrees of turn without hitting the cab of a shortbed truck. After purchase I realized this: On the Raptor- to access the basement door, the entrance door must be closed. Cyclone- can open basement door anytime with entrance door open. Cyclone has a central vacuum(which works very well). Overall I am very pleased with the Cyclone. When I purchased it 2 years ago, very few people had even heard of it. I have only had a couple of very minor problems, fixed myself.

I have owned the 3795 now for 2 years and am very pleased also. Purchased one of the first ones. Could not be happier. I had the typical minor issues at time of purchase but nothing really major.
I think they have changed somethings in the new ones such as the king bed. I think it is an option now and some other improvements were made for the better. They are very nice units.

Thanks to everyone that has posted so far. The one i am looking at is a preowned 2008 model with only .5 hrs. on the Gen. I am going to look at it this weekend and make a decision. Anyway keep them coming so i do not make a bad choice.

We are happy with our Cyclone. Minor issues but all trailers have them. Buy the trailer that fits your needs.

WE RESEARCHED RAPTOR FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS AND HAD THREE FRIENDS WITH THEM. ENDED UP BUYING CYCLONE WITH A PARTNER WHO HAD A FRIEND THAT WAS A DEALER. FELL FOR SOME EXTRA OPTIONS ON CYCLONE 3795 AND WOULD LOVE TO GO BACK TO RAPTOR NOW. WE MUST HAVE GOTTEN A LEMON. LOOK CLOSE AT UNDERSIDE, ELECTRICAL, UNDER THE SLIDES. PURCHASED NEW IN OCT 07 AND BEEN IN SHOP AT LEAST 6 WEEKS TO PUT IT LIGHTLY.
GOOD LUCK

Look at a New Vision www.kz-rv.com. Very very well built and if you look them up in the forums you will here nothing but great reviews on customer service. We almost purchased the Cyclone but thankfully got swayed by one of the mfg reps at KZ. This is our 2nd trailer and when you spend in the 40k range you want to make sure it is worth every penny.
We go with large groups who have everything (including all of the brands that have been mentioned) from 5th wheels to pulls to class A rigs. They laugh at us becuase ours is like the taj mahal.
I am pretty anal about looking at the detail of the trailer (which is why the Cyclone is impresive). But as it turns out the mfg rep who is now running things at KZ is the one who designed the Cyclone.
At least check it out and good luck.
