Heck I haggle at the grocery store. J/K
I went knowing what the dealer paid for a rig they had on thier lot from the MFG. A friend works for the finance company the dealer uses. We ended up ordering one from the factory but with the information I had and the price we paid I figured we got 23% of MSRP and the dealership made 3% off me.

Offer just above half to make the deal work today otherwise take a walk and think about it. You cannot insult a dealer with a low price offer. Let them come back with another price and if they seem pretty firm just say you just were not ready to make that sort of commitment today and you need to talk to your bank or some BS. They are trained to extract as much as possible from you and they get to practice seven days a week. Don't worry they will make some money or say no.
Check prices on www.nada.com or www.rvwholesalers.com etc.

I think was $24500 with a Equal-I-zer hitch installed vs. a $36k+ sticker (excluded the hitch).
With cars, RVs, or any other big purchases go in late in the month - 4 days before is best. Do your homework and don't be afraid to walk away. When I buy cars, I go in with a complete writeup from Yahoo autos that details the invoice price, offer $500 over that and make it a yes/no proposition - no games, no drama, no bs. Make sure they know you have better things to do than hang around their dealership all day and don't let them rotate salespeople. Be ready to buy - get pre-approved financing before you head into the dealer and let them offer to beat it if they can. I usually get even lower interest when I do that. I also send e-mails requesting quotes on rigs to a variety of different dealers - making sure it is addressed to each of them at the same time - so they know it is a competition. Don't let them offer to beat the lowest deal, just ask them for their best price. Your biggest strength in dealing is to simply walk out. If it takes more than 15 minutes to get a price out of them, leave them with your cell phone number and tell them to call when they get their act together.

Go to the shows... they always knock another $10k at the shows. Yes, haggle til you are annoyed with it! Then have them throw in something free like the hitch.

Haggling is a must in this market. Due to the current housing market there aren't alot of people out there buying big luxury items such as toyhaulers...the dealers know this and should be prepared to make you an excellent deal.

You are going to make a large investment. It is smart to go into a deal well armed. I am not affiliated with any of the groups I am going to mention I am just another RV'er. I just purchased a 3712ts Raptor today. Prior to this I found a guy "Dave" at RVGURU.com. I told him what I was looking at and what I was trading. For 39 bucks he did some research, got back with me and councled me own what I should be able to buy and trade for. I saved 18'000 off MSRP and got 2000 more than whole sale for my used unit. I had to shop the country via phone and Internet but it paid off. There was another service that helped also and it was RV Insiders guide. A lot of downloadable information from this sight for a small fee. Find an RV show and go look there to get some ideas, don't buy just look. I paid 8000 less than the special once in a life time show only price on my unit and found a RV Dealer with in 100 miles that would make the deal I wanted.

Dealers usually have advertisements online about there existing inventory. Compare one dealer to another on similar units. Also check their inventory on new units leftover from last year these are the ones usually marked down for quick sale, but you know they are not losing money on them! So when you want the new model, you know they can come WAY down and not lose money on them as well, it is more of a supply and demand at that point on the new stuff. Many people are getting units stickered at $79,995 for $50,000! Online is the easiest way to do your research before venturing out!
