We may adjust our plans. We have to go to Colorado for family events and planned to go on to the Northwest after that.

May adjust by going from Denver area to Yellowstone and SD/ND and then along the Great Lakes to MI before we return. Probably will save miles and also allow a more leisurely trip. Not sure really how much is related to gas prices and how much to just having 3 weeks to accomplish whatever we do.

For longer term, I am shopping for a truck camper setup to keep in the Denver area. Going and returning from Denver is a 3600 mile excursion at 10 MPG. Now that is about $1250 and also 6-8 days of "lost" travel. We love the west but probably are trapped in the east so using two units may be a solution. By the way, I am a strong used RV believer so we aren't talking about major investments in either location.

Okay I was not going to alter my plans but....First off I am not retired I am a student and my husband still works we have a small son. So that said we just got home today from a 400 mile round trip visit to my BIL that trip cost me 180.00 on the way down (fierce head winds) and 130.00 on the way back. This was a 3 day trip . So I will be altering my weekend trips to places closer to home. Aside from out trip to florida in Nov. I expected the gas to be high but not quit that high!

still planning 7500 mile plus alaska trip although I am concerned about diesel supply. Will pay price as this may be our first and last trip to Alaska. Still better than being on those tacky cruise ships and I don't have to pretend to be interested in boring conversations at dinner time.

We just purchased our first TT in February (from pup)..We live in South Jersey so not only am I worried about the price of fuel but also we have the issue of the state park closures...nevertheless we will try to work the increased fuel costs into our budget and pack a few lunches, skip some fast food snacks, and/or turn the heat down a little earlier to save some dollars, making it possible to take those much needed camping trips!

We just canceled a trip to Topsail Hill State Park in Florida. We booked it 11 months ago when diesel was $2.50-2.75 a gallon. I used a budget of $600 for fuel, now we are looking at closer to $1000 forr the 2200 mile round trip. Being in comissioned sales, paychecks have been small and far between, we had to make the decision to go to a shorter distance for vacation this year. I have 3 other trips planned right now, one being about 1200 miles round trip, we will wait to see what happens with fuel and sales when we get closer to that one.

My poor children! Can you imagine? Not inheriting that extra $10,000 or $20,000 because their mother and I enjoyed a few years of RV adventures before passing. We are both 69 years old and recognize that the very active and mobile years may soon be coming to a close. Fuel costs on our planned round trip to Canada from Florida in June/July probably $1,600. Gosh!!
