I'm going to be really ticked off if it does.... All that ocean front property I bought in Arizona will be gone

DH is a California native, I lived there for 10 years. The game everyone plays as soon as someone feels a rumble of an earthquake is "Guess that Magnitude" - it's great fun! Seriously...that is true of everyone I know in California. No matter who you're around when an earthquake happens, they all shout out their guesses of the measurement on the Richter scale. You're considered a native equivalent if you can guess the strength without turning on the TV.

Even though I'm now living in Kentucky, when I feel a little rumble in the house, my first thought is, "earthquake!" until I remember I'm in the Bluegrass state, not SoCal.

That said, I didn't feel today's quake, although friends around us all emailed to report their experience. This is all the news is going to be talking about tonight. Apparently bricks fell from buildings in downtown Louisville. That is bizarre given that we're 200 miles away from the epicenter and it was a relatively small quake.

Glad everyone is safe.

We woke up about 4:30 and the DW said boy the wind really picked up. We were shaking pretty good. But I couldnt hear the wind, Hmmmmmm. Turned on the TV to get the weather and saw that we had an earthquake. Had some small blocks under the landing gear but we didnt slide off. Had a pretty good aftershock about 10:15 we are about 50-60 miles from the epicenter.

If it does I'm gonna have to drive east really quick, or hope that MY acreage turns into beachfront property.

We slept right through it and weren't even aware of the incident until the clock radio went off this morning. Guess maybe there are some benefits to being a heavy sleeper!!

After awhile you really get used to them. We have them alot. Glad no one was hurt as far as the news reports have said out here so far.

I grew up in San Diego, and one of my clearest memories are the earthquakes; after a while you got so use to them you often didn't mention one.

A couple of years ago I was setting on the couch with my wife in Western, New York when I felt one. Non-pulsed I said, "earthquake."
But my poor wife, who had never felt one wanted to skidaddle right then.

Yup, woke me up.

Whole house shook for about 10 seconds.

I thought domesticated animals were supposed to predict these things. My stupid cat was laying on my feet when it happened, and he didn't even wake up until it was over.

I felt it in northern Indiana at Dunes State Park. It felt like someone was outside rocking the motorhome. I really didn't know what happened until I turned on the news in the morning.
