Sounds like the pill popper - and a big thick towel - will be your best friends. Ouch! Our sickest cat has also been our most cooperative, and he has spoiled me. Not looking forward to having to pill our younger one, as she is quite feisty.

If the problem is with the cat biting you as you insert the pill, then a pill popper would be a good option. If it is just a one time dose, then taking the cat to the vet and having them do it might be a good option, also.

My vet showed me that if I pick my cat up by the scruff of the neck -- the way her mother would have when she was a kitten, she automatically goes limp and her mouth even opens a little. With the other hand I quickly stick the pill in, toward the back of her throat, then I rub the front of her neck (like where her adam's apple would be if she had one) and she will automatically swallow. I don't know if it works on all cats, but it has worked on all of mine! My vet showed me this years go and I've used this method on more than one cat. Hope this helps!

If the medication you are giving is deworming, consider having your vet prescribe:
Profender®

PS: This is real new, I have not used it yet.

Wish I could help but my Tigger had no teeth only the 2 front top and bottom eye teeth and boy when you wanted to give him a pill he had no holes in his mouth. We tried the liquid and an orange cat doesnt look good blowing pink bubbles down out the side of the mouth. All I can say is good luck. I found with Jr that if I didnt get it in the first time then I didnt get it in. Its hard to do unless you have been doing it with the cat since it was a kitten. We all know that you can only fool them once with the food thing or the treat thing or the petting him and then giving him the pill. They know the routine.

Our Stranger, (16 yr old feral rescue) has an over active thyroid. He needs meds 2x / day. We crush a pill into powder and add 1 - 2 Tbsp of lactose free milk. He loves it. If we're late he pesters us for his "M".
